Q has phased them out as primary PK'ers during that time to save them for other situations... probably more accurate to blame guys like Kruger, Handzus, the D and Crawford for their PK woes.
- Tomahawk

Well if they're not primary PKers over the last few years, I don't think they're qualified as good PKers.

Is it because he didn't go to their stupid ball hockey game this summer? When he was recovering from surgery? Absolute joke Nash or Carter made it over him. I'm with you guys, it's going to be a lot easier to root against Canada.
- TobyFlenderson

That definitely has something to do with it. He has more points than any players over the last 3 years, he's the captain of a playoff caliber team, he kills penalties and he's good on face-offs.

Essentially, they left him off the team because he had a bad 15 games to start the season (After returning from wrist surgery) and he missed the their bath house meeting in the summer.

I know. I don't understand why they wouldn't take Giroux for his versatility. He can play wing and center. He can kill penalties and play on the PP. I guess they felt they needed more speed.
- PhillySportsGuy

I didnt realize Giroux was so slow.

Datsyuk doesn't see much PK time anymore... is he not qualified as a good PK'er then?

Or pronger. The larger ice would be good for his lack of peripheral vision.

Their PK has been terrible for years. The Ducks have a bad PK too. They use Perry and Getzlaf. I hope this blows up in their face.

Canada is usually my back-up team if US is out, but not this year. Some really wierd choices for both USA and Canada. Picks are more like the All-Star team picks then Olympic team picks. GM's going after thier own guys first. #Howard.

I don't know, I know he's excellent defensively at 5-on-5 but I've never seen his PK work. So I can't say.

No P Bergeron? Is he hurt or something? Who else would you want as 4th line center and top Pker?

Hopefully with the Carter selection everyone on here does not bring up the trade again. There is no way Carter Nash Marleau, Kunitz and Bergeron should be ahead of Giroux on this team, that is crazy, I don't care what positions they play. If they say the slow start hurt him then how did a guy like Thornton not make it leading the league in assists so far?

I doubt it's going to be much of an Achilles heel... virtually any forward willing to bust their @ss can kill penalties at a high level.

So Danny Briere would be a good PKer if he just skated really hard?

If it came down to bergeron or g it'd be a tough call. St Louis deserves to go also.

From the reports, he seemed genuinely surprised.
