Speaking of Buffalo...I'm stranded here. Can someone back in Chicago please flip on the heat so I can come home?

Hang in there - in the 30s by Thursday.

Go see Niagara Falls.

Not so sure anymore there JJ on the when and where Tsquared appears in a Hawk sweater. Conventional thinking says next year with first Rockfish then the Hawks.
Conventional thinking had the Eel going down and LaBarbera riding the pine behind CC. What happen there? The better player stayed. As you've stated several times, the Hawks are very serious about winning the Cup this year. If Tsquare is the best option to improve the teams chances this year, he'll be in a Hawk sweater come April.

Why tip your cap to a team that plays that way? First off, hit a guy in the back numbers is a penalty, yet SJ can get away with it. Burns committed 2 penalties on the play he scored the tying goal. Krueger gets slashed before a face-off and no call. Tell me that SJ played a clean, penalty free game. Even a beer-league team can beat a pro team if they can play outside the rules.

It works for The Blues, Ducks, and Kings, too

I saw the other day Zenon Konopka got picked off waivers and wondered if Raanta would have to clear waivers on the way back to Rockford like Klinkhammer did earlier this year.

I believe Raanta is on a 2 way so he wouldn't have to clear waivers....as far as Klinkhammer, he hasn't been with the Hawks since 2011.

Hey Beav, you ever see that show Brew Dogs? Just saw their Portland episode with the Deschutes brew master. Brewed their Portland inspired beer while floating down the Willamette River on a raft built of empty kegs, and foraging botanicals from the shoreline.

Given your penchant for fine Brews and foraging...seems right up your alley.

Reg loss to Calgary and OT loss to Ducks. But when they actually go 5-1. You better get on board Mister.

Pretty sure 1 way vs 2 way only matters in terms of $, don't think it has anything o do with waivers. Waivers I believe is based on some combination age/service.

This is correct. Not sure if Raanta has to clear waivers yet to due to time of service. I am sure someone more ambitious than I will get us the answer.

Like I said on the last thread, the law of averages says at least 2 of those six are going to extra time. With the way this team has been playing in those types of games of late, that means they will likley be something-something-2 in their next 6.

And you better start moaning and whining and be negative like me when they come back with a 3-2-1 record. Which wouldn't be too bad on this tough trip knowing the Hawks, though, I bet they do lose to both Calgary and Edmonton but beat everyone else

I'm not sure ....I always thought 2 way meant you could have the flexibility.....or does it have to do with first contract(ELC) ?

They could go 0-0-6 and come away with half of the available points...further illustrating the lunacy of the loser point.

Very good point and illustrates the stupidity of the current point system.

Yeah to me a loss is a loss. That's why I like to say the last 10 have been 6-4. I like Elbows saying 16 points out of the last 20 better. But I look at the negative of being 6-4

I spent the morning going over the Swedish World junior games again, and I can now offer a bit more on Robin Norell.
Just mind the fact that the defenders who play in front of him are basically Swedish junior national vets who get the minutes and situations based on their experience, seniority, etc.
At this point he is isn’t tall but a stocky.
He appears to already have really good upper body strength.
Similar to Nik Hjarlmarsson, he plays the right side as a left hander.
As Hammer at this point he is asked to play a defensive role, and there were only two incidences where he carried on into the attack zone to maintain possession as his team made it’s change.
Comparisons to Hammer are pretty easy because both are really well-balanced powerful skaters, although Norell doesn’t have Hammer’s bent-over hitch.
Norell excelled as a strong shot blocker, and was always on one of the PK pairings on all penalties.
He closed the gap on puck carrying attackers gaining the zone, but what was noticeable was he very physically strong and engaging in his zone, whether it was on the wall, in front or behind the red line.
Please understand my meaning: he wasn’t on bone-rattler checker-but in every opportunity where on opposition attacker was in reach, he applied strong forearm punch (similar to the move an offensive linemen in football makes once the ball is hiked) to players and usually moved them or disrupted their attempted mobility.
Watching the games before doing the “Norell iso” I didn’t realize his feet, because when in the middle zone, he always reverted to a more compact forward skating style, where he knew he was passing off and not gaining the red line. In his own zone he opened up the hips and was very fluid in all directions to allow him to poke check, close and engage and move to body check in his defensive zone.

I refuse to make predictions except that he is smart and solid on the ice defensively at his current level.

Just thought all of you needed something from me to make for my posts yesterday.

I just want all our kids to be with parent club when the situation is most conducive to their success, not every Hawk fan having Danault TT, and the rest penciled in the hawk line-up because it a popular thought.

Two way means you get paid different salaries based n where you're playing, an AHL salary, and an NHL salary. One way means you get paid the same no matter where you play, which means you are getting at least the NHL minimum. When you get a one way deal, it's kind of a sign that you've "arrived".

I am saving it all for the playoffs. Come then I will make Rob look like Mr. (frank)ing Sunshine.
