Just going by yourself @ 1 beer per period is an easy +$100 affair. North if you're on a date. Neat if you're sitting in a box or if its a business entertainment thing but other than that I'd just assume sit at home or in a bar stool, spend half, flirt with a pretty bartender or waitress and be entertained all night instead of a few hours.

Damn over 100 just for one? While there is something about seeing it live and celebrating a huge win with 20,000+ people, I would rather just sit at home or a bar, too

So - we're looking at 9 for sure (including Toews and Keith) and possibly 12 going to play in the Evil Empire (where the temp was in the 50s yesterday, BTW).

Wish all our lads the best...but wonder what toll/inspiration...both
individual/collective...the Sochi sojourn will have on the good ship Tomahawk ?

7 so far: Kane (U.S), Hossa & Handzus (SVK), Rozsival (CZK), Hjalmarsson, Oduya, Kruger (SWE)
- Beaver-Warrior

I didn't see the Svk roster, yet. So Zus and Rozy on that big ice? so it looks like the final tally will be anywhere from 9-11?

I was a bit shocked not to see him on the roster.

Tervainen may have great ability and lots of promise but he was not a scoring leader or star in his Finnish league. His recent accomplishment in WJC is a far cry from the competition at the Olympics. And that is true especially since he has no professional experience.

Of course when you have Handzus on an Olympic roster and Kukkonen and Kontiola are competing for duty, well still I am not surprised the fab kid was omitted. Doesn't come as a slight or suggest that TT will not become a very good NHL-er. There is some division on this board as to when that occurs. How to and when to break the kid in at the NHL is his next feat, not an Olympic berth.

I wonder how many from the blues are going? They should be around the same. Anaheim probably won't be as many. Didn't look at Finland's roster yet but probably selanne and Saku. LA won't have too many

I think the Hawk plan at this juncture is to project Teravainen as centre, and as the eventual 2nd line centre.

He doesn't walk in and win that job, based on World Junior, lousy F-O % or never meeting an NHL board.

If the kid is so good that he can't be sent down to Rockford because he is heads better than anyone there, and guys on the parent club, he gets a chance to play.

I have seen many a talented skilled quick handed forward brought in to major league clubs and goobled up...losing confidence, second guessing whether they actually play at the level, without the frame having the developed muscle strength to play all phases.

I really don't care what TT's take on staying and playing in Finland or not playing in the AHL...those comments are a kid answering questions naively...oh so similar to Mark McNeill on draft day answering a soft ball question with, "Yes, I think I can work hard and make the Hawk roster in the Fall."

Not trying to compare abilities here, but McNeill already has a NHL type muscle mass but obviuosly not the offensive savvy of TT...

The one thing TT does have going for him is he could easily play on a 4th line, or even an energy 3rd line without really embarrassing himself defensively in the bigs.

I just think opinions on making rosters prove to be a waste of time until the projected actually perform to projection.

Yeah well I don't have season tickets but face for 300 is like 67 or 62 or something like that. 8-9/beer = 24-27. Parking = 18-22 or cab from where I live is like 10 after you get done with tipping and such.

Seeing it live is a way better experience, especially with how gawd awful WGN and Comcast are at working cameras but really unjustifiable $ wise. I'm far from a cheapskate but I really can't justify going unless I'm gifted work seats or a vendor throws out an invite.

That San Jose game was excruciatingly boring by the way. Can the line blender get going already starting with Kane as far away from Zues as possible.

How does Mike Smith make it over Corey?

Edit: How does Mike Smith make it over anybody? He is comedy on ice.

Good for Sharp
Seabs though i/we love him, likely would have been torched on the big ice
Crow could use the extra rest both physically and mentally

Not Jumbo Joe...he's an above average skater...IF he is who you are referring to.

Whether it was Smith or Crawford as the third goalie it doesn't really matter, neither will play. On the bright side Crawford and Seabrook will can take advantage of the extra time off.

The one player that sticks out is Hamhuis. I just question if he should have made the team. He's a very good defenseman, but there has to be better options out there.

Hockey logic says Seabrook makes the team if he is a lefty or if they were not as strong about having righty/lefty pairs.

Really only 2 of 3 Hamhuis-Subban and Seabrook could make it.

Only one i know of know...but how is he a liability on the big ice ? There are other negatives about Thornton, but his skating is not one of them.

I'd take Seabs over Hamhuis every day of the week, but I'm glad Seabs will get some rest, and maybe some motivation.
