Are they held like you see on TV? They throw the door open and you can look from the entrance but not touch anything or step inside?

I know what the future mrs does and on top of getting all the time off the job isnt all that stressful. Teaching is super stressful and MIlitary during war time is tough.
Like I said she gets like a week off every month and a half ish

Wouldnt hate it, he was part of Drafting Perry and Getzlaf as well as many others. Between He and the current scouting staff, it could do a lot of damage.

Is that the one with I think a black and yellow cover? I got a book from the wife for xmas '12 that I had at some point put on my amazon wishlist that was about Buffalo and that sounds familiar.
- stashu

Yes black on yellow. Great read. Gets a little boring in the middle but what book doesn't?

It's not the drafting part that concerns me. It's the willingness to trade his draft picks for immediate help if necessity dictates. That was Darcy's biggest flaw: that, and contract negotiations.

Cool, I've had it since then and never opened it. I'll have to start. Thanks for the opinion on it

Well he learned from Doug and he went after Bobby Ryan so I would hope that transfers to him as well

I would be fine with he or Benning to be honest. Both have good track records.

I'm not saying that he isn't capable. It just seems that whenever candidate X's name gets mentioned, the response is always "oh, he drafted player Y, he must be good" or "he drafted player A over player B, he sucks as an evaluator". A good GM is good at all facets of the business. Regier's problem was that he was a pretty good drafter, but sucked at a lot of the other facets of the business.

Well that's the case with any assistant GM that gets promoted to GM. Nobody really knows how they will handle it. He has a good eye for talent so that's a big plus considering the amount of draft picks we have. Him and hopefully he keeps Devine should be having a field day over the next 2 drafts

When Benning was here the scouting department had little to no funding behind it.

Look at what Benning has helped do in Boston.

Hmmmm...sounds familiar...small cafeteria for the number of people and horrible plow service?
- gilbert pierogi

I don't consider the cafeteria small where I am. There's lots of places for people to eat. So I'm guessing it's not the same place.

Just making sure you're prepared. I'm not the one who will argue against Benning.

They could hire Morgan Freeman to do PR and there'd still be split views on it, that's the great (or not so great depending on your stance) thing about this place

Personally, I like Murray over Benning for the fact alone that he has no prior ties to this organization. I want a complete, independent, "no familiarity" evaluation of this franchise.

I understand while he was here the teams drafting was nothing short of crap.

When you dont have the resources, your job is that much more difficult. Whos to even say he was the one in charge of making the picks...

Other than Rip, would there be any person in the organization that is still around from Benning's days?

Multiple ownership groups have been here, I doubt much staff is around to understand that concern.

I understand your stance on that front. I can agree to a certain point. If that was the major factor for him getting the job I would think that would be the dumbest thing ever. I also highly doubt that was the case. I like the idea of new eyes as well. I just want someone who is going to get the job done. We had 17 years of Darcy it is time to move on from him that's for sure. People are going to want to see a lot happen quickly and I don't think it will. I do expect to see some major moves but probably not until the summer.

That was my next point as well. The turnover has to be large as well. But either or just get the right guy

I just want a new GM to be hired so I can complain again a week after that he has not made a move yet.
