Other than Rip, would there be any person in the organization that is still around from Benning's days?

Multiple ownership groups have been here, I doubt much staff is around to understand that concern.

I'd rather not take the chance if I don't have to. The more completely new faces in this franchise, the better.

Side note, what do we do with Grigorenko now?

I just want a new GM to be hired so I can complain again a week after that he has not made a move yet.
- ImThatGuy

Haha I am sure there will be those complaints. Just need to remember he is inheriting a mess of a roster here. I am sure he has a vision of what he wants to do but he still needs a dance partner.

I will have to disagree. Benning could be the best choice due to the fact he knows the most. That has nothign to do with him being part of the organization before.

The old ownership groups were about money. This one is about winning cups (Allegedly) Any face in this organizations is technically a "fresh face."

Does he "know the most" I would think Murray has a pretty vast knowledge as well

Futa is the head scout not assitant GM for the Kings correct? I'd be interested to know about his track record.

I really don't know much about any of these guys (except a little on benning). Anyone know anything about Treliving and Futa?

He could. I honestly dont know. I just disagreed with the premise of not taking Benning due to the fact he was with this organization before.

Ah I gotcha. If that's the deciding factor I would think that's an awful way to make a decisions. I doubt that was the case.

Pretty much just that. Numerous "reports" have him as the front runner. MacLean has said "its all but done".

I have heard nothing that would indicate that Benning is the most knowledgeable out there. He might be on par, or right up there with just about anybody with their name in the hat, but he hasn't exactly been dubbed the "oldest and wisest by far" by anybody, locally or nationally. In fact, the thing that set him apart from all the other candidates so far has been the fact that he's worked in this front office before.

I've made this comparison before. If I have two candidates that I feel are equal in just about all their qualities, except one is has been here before, and one comes from a completely different background. I'm taking the completely different background 10 times out of 10, especially when my organization has been mired in failure for so long.

Depends on who you ask really. Neither one has the making of a Milbury so that's a plus

Im hoping to avoid a jay feaster/ milbury type of gm in all honesty. I dont know enough about murray to fully endorse him. I still like and want benning as our gm.

Well I understand the concern, Benning has assisted in turnng Boston into a powerhouse that is competative every year. They have done it on all aspects Trading, Free agency and the draft. Just because he was here during a different ownership time with different views/objectives does not make him any less of a candidate than anyone else.

I want it to be someone from an organization that just won the stanley cup recently and went through a build it through the draft approach... Futa or Benning. I would lean more towards Futa because of his 2nd round pick draft history and LA more closely resembles our situation than Boston.

Iā€™m trying not to wear the homer glasses, but I see nothing wrong with either of these hits. I know the head is the initial point of contact on Saturday's hit, but I just don't see it has a dirty or suspension worthy.
