Alt: steady 2 way dmen with good mobilty. Future 2nd or 3rd pairing guy who can be paired with a stay at home defencemen. Should start contending for a roster spot next year, but more likely first call up if a mobile d is injuried in 2014/2015

Lauridsen: big, long, physical player who knows his role. Future 6/7 and PK guy. Shouldn't make the team next year but could be used as a call up to fill the Hal Gill role next year if needed.

Gostisbehere: smaller offensive minded dmen with great mobilty. If he learns how to use his frame correctly (like Kimmo does) can be a useful complimentary piece on any pairing (most likely 3rd) and can run a top pp unit. Hopefully starts his pro career next year in the AHL and plays 2 years before pushing for a roster spot.

All that showed was a comparable Corsi. I'll admit, I felt Weber helped Suter more than the other way around. Now that Suter's in Minnesota, it's obvious that he wasn't carried by anyone.

True...but would only add Carle at his price if I could swap for Streit (who, for his part, has been getting better as of late).

He has his good games once in a while but has been largely underwhelming and a disappointment in Tampa. Guys like Hedman, Gudas and old man Salo are having more impact (at lower salary). As I've said, I doubt Yzerman makes that offer to Carle if he had the chance to do it over again.

I cant figure out which group is tougher. Group A has US and Russia. 2 Team that could win it all. Group B Canada seems like they have the easiest division. But Group C...While they dont have that 1 powerhouse...USA, Canada, Russia... they definately have the deepest group.

If it was 2006, I'd agree with you. I'd say Group C is the hardest, as Czech Republic, Sweden, and the Swiss all can win any given day. Each of the other 2 is basically 2 good teams and 2 walk-overs. But yes, Canada probably has the easiest draw.

No, but I did just realize Lecavalier is 103rd all-time in NHL points, and could easily move into the top 90. He'd need 110 points to get to 1000 and 108 goals to get to 500, which are both doable. He has captained a team to a Stanley Cup, won a goal scoring race, won a World Cup Gold in 2004. What does he have to do for a legit shot at the HHOF?

I don't see much of a downgrade in the two finn teams and I'd say their goaltending is much stronger than in 2006. Definitely not a cakewalk win for Canada.
