Or Rosehill
Or Akeson

You know it's Rinaldo. Berube loves him. Rinaldo has played shifts on the top line. I'm not sure why that would happen.

Could you imagine the cap casualties if they landed both Parise and Suter?

Very different looking lineup.

- Moose_15

They couldn't land both. It was one or the other. That's why they chose Minnesota. They wanted to play together.

They should have offered him the Liberty Bell for his living room.

Yea, he needed to shake that Bum Weber to show what he can really do.

Suter has played better than Weber since the two split.

MArkedly better. Weber struggled last year, but he's been better this year. Suter should have won Norris last year and so far is the runaway leader, IMO.

Good morning, everyone. Regarding Akeson, does anyone know who his frequent linemates are? I follow the Phantoms twitter account but they rarely post lines other than the starting lineups. Also, is there any way to find out how many minutes Mark Alt plays? The AHL site only lists the basic stats (goals, assists, +/- etc.) so I was wondering if there was another site that had other stats. I think I've googled just about everything. Alt does seem to be in the starting lineup frequently, with the Great Dane as his partner.

My brain is having quite a bit of difficulty trying to identify what form of identity a line composed of Rinaldo / Couturier / Lecavalier would have.

The result keeps coming back "user error."

I know he usually plays with McGinn, not sure who has been their center.

Weber was also injured most of last season, and was basically on an island by himself last year. Heck, anyone short of Bobby Orr would have had trouble in that lineup last season. But yes, Suter was robbed of a Norris last season. Still, I think they're both good, and some things that Suter has, Weber doesn't, and vice versa.

I know. Checking line center. Scoring center. 4th line energy winger. Now that's chemistry!

Couturier breaks up the play and gets it to Vinny who starts wheeling through the neutral zone. Whistle blows, Flyers 2 minute minor for roughing.

Thanks, much appreciated! I think his center might be Newbury, but that's merely guess work based on the fact that Newbury had 2 goals last game and Akeson had two assists.

I still don't think they're a real contender. A good (not great, good) QB will be able to pick them apart over the middle and run the ball straight at them. They key to beating the Eagles this year was simple: long, sustained drives built on running the ball up the middle and 6-7 yard passes with yards after the reception. The Chargers were the model of how to beat the Eagles. Until they can learn to stop the run and get better pass coverage over the middle, they'll stagnate as an annual playoff contender.
- jmatchett383

? theyve stopped the run all year. the saints threw them a curveball and they didnt handle it well. the key for teams was to attack ther safeties in one on one matchups. esp patrick chung. san dieg was the 2nd game of the year with a brand new defense. the end of the year is more what they are. are the flyers closer to how theyve played the past 6 weeks under berube or those first 3 weeks?

Minnesota was better than Nashville, but It's not as if Suter was playing with incredible talent. I thought Weber had a down year and struggled more than most thought.

IMO, Suter helped Weber more than Weber helped Suter.

Last season, Holmstrom was the center for McGinn/Akeson, right?

This season, I think it's mostly been Newbury.

Has anyone watched much of the Phantoms? I know I can look at stats, but I'm wondering if theres been much progression for the young guys like Cousins, Noebels, Straka, McGinn, Alt, Lauridson, Heeter?

The Flyers are better now (although I remember people claiming the season was a wash a month and a half ago). But I still think the Eagles have trouble with other teams' short game. Even the second game against Washington, once Washington went to the ground game late, they couldn't stop it. And these little dink-and-dunk passes go to wide open receivers. They're a decent-at-best defense, and I think a good linebacker could solve a lot of issues.

I don't believe that for a second. I don't have any stats either way, I just think Weber is, for my money, the best defenseman in the NHL.

I don't recall Weber being hurt last season. He played all 48 games, although he did take a puck to the eye earlier this season.

But Nashville's defensive corps were not that bad last season. Weber, Klein, Josi, Ellis.

Suter really stepped up, Weber struggled to get his groove back.
