He's not scoring or laying big hits, might as well attack the other teams smallest player.

Chris Kreider is 6'3, 230lbs.....The Rangers must be massive.

Hamhuis left Nashville on alot of hype. I felt he wasnt as good in Van. Comparing him and Dion is hard. Dion has more offensive upside to his game. Defensively Hamhuis has a slight edge. If Dion could get his open ice hitting back to the way it was in Calg. He would edge out Hamhuis imo. Id prolly still take him over Hamhuis. But complaining about his contract is kind of stupid. I said it in another blog. Dion isnt worth that contract to the other top teams in the league who have a defense core in place. Dion is worth that contract to Toronto. Since he is theyre D core.

He is also worth that contract to Philly, Edmonton and a couple other Teams that don't even have a #3 D-man...so the deal is what it is. And watch the contract that go out to Girardi this summer...it will be crazy as well.

Depends how bad we want him in Edmonton.....we pretty much have to offer 10-15% more than anyone because apparently Edmonton is inhabitable, and we get into a bidding war,who knows?

As much as I would love to see a steady d-man get signed in the off-season I just don't know how good the Oilers' chances are. The market seems pretty thin with a lot of buyers, but not many sellers. I could see MacT packaging the first rounder in this year's draft with another piece to bring in the d-man we're lacking.

What about the other D-Man we are lacking? Or did you think we only needed one?

I figure we need about 3. We might luck out and find a stop-gap or two until Nurse and/or Klefbom prove to be serviceable. Of course, there is the chance we finish right where we are in the standings and draft Ekblad, but even then it's a matter of finding guys who can just fill the holes at a competent level for a year or two.

If we could land any 2 of Girardi, Bogosian, Erhoff or Coburn we would be okay for a few years.

Of course, they'll also have to figure out what happens in goal after this season.

Though im no fan of Duby. He would look a whole lot better with actual competent defenders playing actual defense infront of him.

Hard to say...I think they will try for Halak or Hiller though.

Vlad Tretiak in his prime would struggle behind that sad sack group of defenders.

I don't know. He has become pretty dependable for giving up one goal per game that really has no business going in, defense or no defense.

His confidence cant be very high playing behind such a terrible defensive squad.

I could see that. St. Louis and Anaheim are both deep in net.
