Brent Sutter misused a number of players on that team.

They are not good enough. Way too small for a long playoff drive and not enough talent. They are not close to being ready.

Its not even about the skill level of the teams. A seven game series is a different animal. As the Send showed last year, its very easy to push them around. Look at the Send roster that won that series. A bunch of plugs. The one thing they had going for them was grit. Admittedly the habs added a but of grit. But not nearly enough.

If they played in the West they would get brutalized though by San Jose,St.Louis,LA or Anaheim, not to mention the BlackHawks. Would probably be able to get by the Coyotes or Canucks though.

The difference between the west and east is way overblown. The year before last the intercnference record was almost exactly split. After a month of this season it was roughly 70% games won by east. But teams like Boston and Pitts hadn't gone on west coast swings, while buffalo and the likes had. The reverse was true in the west, and Anaheim and the like had a lot of inter conference games. In the last couple of months the east has been soundly winning more interconf games than the west. Its evening out fast.

I'd also say there are several teams that can easily push around the habs, physically. Most, in fact. They're just a soft team.
