Great so the new GM has what 5 days befre the trade deadline to come in and evaluate the team.

Sounds like a great business plan.

- ImThatGuy

I keep thinking the same exact thing.
The new GM will just be led by the nose through this years deadline by Pat and Kevin anyway.
Pat and Kevin might as well run this deadline.
The longer they wait to properly name a GM the harder it will be for anyone coming in from the outside to know and evaluate any talent here whether it be in Buffalo or Rochester.
To be totally 100% honest , I don't want anyone coming in from the outside at this point and running this deadline.
Much too late in my opinion.

I like the Konopka pick up.... Someone who can win faceoffs and isn't a pansy like Gaustad.....

Now move Staff, Leino, Sulzer, Hank
Sit D'Ago

Put in McNab, Adam, Risto and Larrson in

when is Hodgeson coming back?

Me too. I like the fact that they are going for the Hockey players that can't play hockey makeup. Hopefully Eric Boulton is on waivers next......

I guess you missed the start of the new ownership where he said he wanted a more gritty team and a barn you dont want to play in.....

These guys aren't going to be here long, but in an overall perspective TPegs wants to be a bully team and bringing in player like this to start isn't bad. You really think you're going to snag 30 goal scorers off waivers? The more important problem that should be look at is the guys making 3-5 million that are suppose to be scoring and how to replace them. If anything bringing in more size should help open the ice a bit more for guys who can wheel and deal....

No maybes about it. You don't put that condition in a trade like that unless you plan on exercising it.

I think Mike Robitaille would be a good 4th liner right now. He looks like he was good at blocking shots

I'm just shocked people are impressed with picking this guy up.

Scott, Konopka, Ellis, Mccormick. I have never seen a more boring, talentless team in my life. I can't wait until this goon fest is over

MOULSON DESTINED TO BE TRADED AGAIN?
Over the next couple of months the Buffalo Sabres should expect plenty of enquiries about winger Matt Moulson.
Acquired from the New York Islanders earlier this season, Moulson is on pace for 27 goals and 54 points. The 30-year-old is also eligible for unrestricted free agency in July and it’s expected the Sabres will ship him to the highest bidder by the trade deadline.
CBC’s Tim Wharnsby reported Moulson has so far enjoyed his experience with the Sabres and sees considerable improvement since Ted Nolan was hired as interim coach in mid-November. However, there haven’t been serious talks with the Sabres regarding a contract extension.
Wharnsby suggested the possibility of the Sabres moving Moulson by the March trade deadline and re-signing him in the summer as a free agent. That could be an expensive move. Moulson is coming off a three-year deal worth $3.13 million per season. Wharnsby noted only 11 players have outscored Moulson since 2009-10 and that he could command up to $6 million per season on the open market in July.

If true, hallelujah. Moulson as the Sabres rebuild, and on the top line is not a Gilperreault11 kind of guy

Scott is doing this team no good. He is actually hurting them. He gets more penalties because he is John Scott than he does ice time.

I think it was more an opportunity that presented itself after the injuries. Plus being a center that can take faceoffs is better than what we have in the farm at the moment.

I don't think impressed is the right word. It's more of a no brainer move given the injuries Buffalo and Rochester are dealing with. Impressed no way its a move that pretty much everyone saw coming.

I hate to burst your bubble but at least 1 if not 2 of McCormick, Scott, and now Konopka will be here next year so your "goon fest" isn't going away just yet

Of course he's not. He's being pushed out of the league. They don't want goons that can't play anymore.

- ImThatGuy

Theres not much to evaluate on this team. The GM will already have an understanding of what he wants his team to be. His time spent at his former employer will give him an idea of what Buffalo possesses as well as what he likes in other teams players.

The new GM has 3 moves to make in 5 days. Can I resign Ott? Can I resign Miller? Can I resign Moulson? Do I want to resign them? If not, sell sell sell. Other teams will come calling.

I honestly doubt any of them are here next year. Especially after we get a GM. However I can live with one of them, just not 4 useless players.
