Tim Connolly's shortcomings had nothing to do with how early he entered the NHL. It was all about motivation, and a lack of desire to be great.

Fred Poulin @FredPoulin98 5m
Disgruntled #Habs forward Daniel Briere only willing to lift NTC for the #Sabres, the #Penguins, the #Capitals and the NYC area teams.

Kinda feels nice to be on a players "List"...

Even that had nothing to do with how early he entered. He played four straight seasons of 80 games or more before his first concussion.

you think they move him anytime in the next decade?
- hubie

Ten years isn't ever.

And yes I can see him being moved.

Contract disputes happen all the time.

Then he'll end up in Buffalo or on Long Island, no way the Canadiens will trade Danny to a playoff team to bite them come April or May...

yeah when was the last time a top 20 nhl d man was moved in his prime?

how often has it happened since the turn of the century?

not often

it's one thing to move a chara when he struggles, another thing to trade him when he is a legit all star

legit all star d men don't get moved

Disagree, had he not had a glass noggin then it wouldn't have broken and his motivation wouldn't have fallen out. Instead it was filled with m&m's and held together with scotch tape.

im good with scott being on this team. can we maybe not put him on the power play though? the real problem is on the top 2 lines, i dont know whats there. if youd like to make the point that scott is here to allow our ineffectual marginally talented forwards to wheel and deal and THATS not happening, ill accept that. of course it still gets back to not having enough talent at the top, not too much enforcement at the bottom.

disagree

losing motivation once you get paid is the worst thing

your born with talent, use it and be grateful and bust your ass on every shift as if it's your last

Understood, but people, here have maintained that had Connolly had AHL experience, he wouldn't have been injured "so soon". His first concussion didn't happen until age 22 or 23.

Thank you Dr Phil. Maybe his motivation was shot the same time his confidence was shot starting in the NHL as an 18 year old. You do dictate your enormous intelligence but have you ever studied Organizational Psychology? One fact/theory is that people are afraid to take on learning that they are not familiar with. If Connolly was developed correctly and was eased into the NHL when he was comfortable and ready, he may have had more confidence and hence motivation. I think I'll develop an Organizational Psychology theory called the Tim Connolly Concept.

His play in 2005-2006 showed he overcame whatever obstacle his "too early" of an entrance into the league. It was behind him. He just lacked the desire to maintain it.
