Wow.. More crap about our 4th line . Some make it out that that's the reason our team is where it is . While the real reason is the Paid to play players.

Blah blah blah blah and blah!
You know nothing about the ins/outs , do's/don't's of organized sports.
When you are degrading the value of what a guy means in a locker room that tells me you have no idea of what you speak.
I am done with this conversation with you.
It's always you that agitates me. - BuffaloHardHat
I know the in's and out's pretty well, for a lot of sports actually. I often find it's the ones that think outside box, and go beyond the groupthink and cliches that fly around are the ones that end up being successful. And again, I never said that guys that are "good in the locker room" had no value whatsoever. I said guys whose only trait is that they are "good in the locker room" have no value. If a guy is well-liked, but can't play the game, he can accomplish just as much at the bar after the game than on my roster. It might even allow me to have more talent too. |

Hmmm. Im ok with it if it happens. He is obviously past his prime but he could mentor the kids an bring at least a little scoring in. |

I can't prove it to you because all you care about is statistics and corsi ratings. Hockey is MUCH more than that. - Stripes77
I understand. It's about skating, scoring passing, shooting, positioning, awareness, intensity, and a bunch of other attributes Scott does not possess. I know a million guys who would be great to have a beer with, doesn't mean I want to potentially play on a line with them. |

30th ranked team is 100% top 2 - hubie
Still though, finishing last isn't the guarentee it used to be for #1. We could very well finish last this year and next and see Reinhart and McDavid both taken before we set foot on stage. |

It's also about staying loose, about traveling with them for 150 days a year. About knowing they have your backs. Things that you can't put a statistic on but mean something to those other 20 players.
I am pretty sure none of those guys would want to play on a line with someone who only brings up statistics and corsi ratings either |

I will disagree from personal experience about the locker room guys. I did not need someone being a vocal leader. I knew what needed to be done and I didnt need someone to "help" me do it.
If you want to be all rah-rah in the locker room go for it, but it will not have an effect on me in the slightest.
Off the ice/field/court, if you dont know how to act you need to grow up. No one is going to "Lead" you to do that but yourself. |

I'm not Scott "bashing". I'm bashing the idea that he is needed. It's false and cannot be proved, and if he is "needed" it doesn't translate onto the ice at all - sbroads24
There are a lot of players on the Sabres who are not needed. Dagostoni (spell) hasn't produced squat, Porter is worthless, Leino ditto and the list goes on. |

I starts from Ownership/Mgmt and rolls down hill.
Owners/GMs need to be on same page.
A coach needs to be on the same page as the GM.
Players need to want to play for a coach. Coaches should help players flourish.
Went players play well, they play together. Chemistry. It's very hard to fail on the ice or get hung out to dry and go back and high five your teammate. You simply don't have a best bud in the lockerrom and play well together because you're friends. You need to have an on ice connection and the off ice chemistry flourishes as well. It works both ways. You push a little harder for the guy you share a seat with on the plane and that on ice connection has a better chance happening.
Before I run on too long here, I am blaming prior management. Supposedly Gallisano tied Regiers hands. Regier didn't choose the guys Ruff wanted. Ruff's ideal team wasn't picked and he was stuck with what he was given. What he was given clearly wasn't the answer. Leadership was lead go and walked for nothing. What we have now is a result of Darcy. |

True but Reinhart is the only true center in the top 10 this year (current projections) and I'm pretty sure that what everyone has been pining for a franchise center. So if Reinhart is gone, sure you get an awesome player but not at our biggest position of need. |
