To be quite honest, Ness gave me a heads-up when she came home from work at 5 this morning (TTC operator... no whore jokes please) and said it was -33 with the wind chill.
Now that I understand that they draw outside air, I'm much happier.
Still pissed at the bullpoop story from the landlord though. - Stee-Dot

they don't draw outside air, somehow they reverse the freon to produce heat but when it's so cold out, it freezes the compressor which is outside. so the warm freon cant run through the evaporator, which is the part inside that the fans blows air over |

So everyone's up in arms about Burke comments and how rude they are. Oddly enough he says the same thing we say constantly. Just because his were public I don't think we are in a position to act all offended over it. |

So basically they build these things to the averages of the clientele?
Toronto's not known to be cold but in a freak instance it does, condo dwellers are (frank)ed? |

I'm not offended, I'm Canadian, I could care less about the US team or their management. I don't understand how that got so much attention here. |

Freon properties are to absorb heat, if you reverse that system to extract hot air from the condenser and use as a heat source, like you said, where does the freon get the heat source in cold whether to transfer heat? Must be another source besides air, Ground water maybe? |

i don't know, the unit outside is like a central air unit and it feeds intake and exhaust freon tubes to a unit that hangs on the wall inside. which is the condenser evaporator
the thermostat is in the unit on the wall and it's operated remotely
the only connection is electrical
i hooked the whole thing up, but i had an electrician connect it to the panel
its 220 amp
i was told that it reverses the freon to create heat |
