He was on a nice trajectory before the shoulder injury. Remember, there were some whispers (mostly on Long Island, granted) about him having an outside chance to make the last Olympic team. He put up 52 points that year (after a decent rookie season the year before), but more than that, was an absolute bull. Then he got the shoulder injury just before the next season and had been wildly inconsistent since then. He had the 24g, 45pt season in '11-12, but that was mostly a late meaningless surge when a lot of the players all of a sudden looked like world beaters.

The end of last season, into the playoffs, and this season so far is the most consistent he's looked since that season before the injury. It's the Okposo we thought we were going to see in the 10-11 season after the really nice 09-10 season.

I understand your point, but in your opinion has KO been more consistent or inconsistent thru the years regardless of injury bc a lot of players play injured as well.

That would be fine if the game was 2 years ago. He is playing like a beast this year and he should be going there since the game is being played in a couple of months not a couple of years ago.
- Vukota

I have a hard time with this logic too but the way these guys did their selection process it has less to do with present production even though okposos play last year IMO from December on was a very big reason we made the playoffs. Four goals or not

tavares and okposo are playing amazing now, and they played amazing down the stretch last year.

but for some reason they're dead last in the divison this year, and they made the playoffs last year? maybe bailey sucking cack this year after being one of the hottest players in the final month of the season last year has something to do with it!

hell, NHL.com has bailey as the X-Factor for the islanders for this season:
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=680618

hmmm i wonder why? and guess what, the X-Factor sucks this year and so do the islanders!

- rangerdanger94

It has nothing to do with our D being horrendous this year as opposed to last year or that Nabby went doen with an injury this year... those things dont matter? its all because of The X-Factor.... Josh Bailey???? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

along with a lack of secondary scoring....the islanders are 7-0-1 when they score 4+ goals this season.
- rangerdanger94

Frans Neilson is playing Hotter NOW then Josh Bailey has ever played in his career... so if secondary scoring was the lynch pin.. we got that covered... Its the D that is the major problem this year.

fack this. you guys are retarded. i'm just gonna post this and leave:
http://newyork.cbslocal.c...anders-made-the-playoffs/
"2) THE EMERGENCE OF A PRODUCTIVE SECOND LINE!
The key to the last part of this season, and what absolutely was a difference-maker between this and last year, is the offensive output of what was to many a yawner of a second line.

Bailey? In 36 games he has 19 points, including 11 goals, many of which were key in the final run for a playoff spot, and is plus-8."

http://www.islandersoptim...josh-bailey-added-to.html
"Josh Bailey's inspired play in 2013 is a huge reason that the Islanders made the playoffs for the first time in six years."

or he is still just 25 yrs old and only hitting his prime now
- Vukota

Grant it, maybe we have another Bertuzzi on our hands and now after 6 yrs KO figured it out??? I understand he's only 25, but like I mentioned before, I need to see him be consistent the whole year this year and start next year the same way for me to change my view on him. 6 years is a long time, and hes had every opportunity within those years to become a better player.

nope it was an expression. i don't think i would literally mean that the only reason the islanders made the playoffs was solely and 100% dedicated to josh bailey.

you've never said "the real reason is XXXXX" in a conversation before? as in:
A: Transformers was a popular movie because the youth that grew up being Transformers fans are now adults and purchased tickets to see the movie.
B: Nah bro the real reason is cuz Megan Fox is sexy as fck!

Fair enough. I think he is finally coming into his own and is only getting better. Now lets fix the D and get another goalie and we'll be set

We need a true #1 goalie and I would be all for bringing Nabby back as a backup.

Hiller & Niskenan should be priority 1 n 2 for Snow if those players are not resigned by their teams.....

If he keeps it up this season, I'd say it's been an even split, which I guess translates to not the most consistent player up to now. But going by seasons, I'd say consistent and good in his first two seasons; hurt for over half the season after that but inconsistent in the half he did play; inconsistent the season after (horrible first half, good second half -- best goal total he's had, but it all came late, if I remember right); inconsistent last season (same as before...bad first half to the point of most of us wanting him benched or traded, good second half and really good playoffs); consistent this season.

I think those shoulder injuries can be a really big issue for these players. I'm just basing that on both KO and Streit being nowhere near the players they were pre- and post-injury...both of them out with major shoulder injuries. I can't say if that was a major factor for KO or not...it's just a guess on my part that it may have been a factor. Maybe it's just been growing pains. Maybe we're all being fooled now. Maybe it was too many video games

“He’s a real good player. I think he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. He’s a big, solid guy. I think that’s what shows here. His experience, he’s been through this, he handles it. He’s very poised, confident. He brings a calming influence into the dressing room with his experience and his mannerisms.”

He'll fit right in on the Isles!

Wait till our coaching staff gets a hold of him, he'll have to sit a couple of games 1st, then sit some more bc he needs more practice, by time he gets in a game will be half way thru the season....
