he got more than Briere... over 5 years i think
- DoubleDown

ok...5 years is a long time...($4.85M)...but still, the $0.85 isn't the problem (it's the additional 3 years)...

but still...

Can someone explain to me how the hell Keith Yandle and Bobby Ryan didn't make team USA?

Good for us but wow.

Yup, think he got a little less than Clarkson.

His 0 goals and 2 points in only 9 games played this year aren't that impressive.

- Scabeh

Sure...but neither are Briere's 10 in 29 when that (offensive) is the only thing he brings to the table.

Also Clowe had 8 pts in 12 gms with the Rags and 11 in 28 with SJ last year...close to 40pt per full season...previous seasons with 45 and 60+ pts...

The guys in the states are out-thinking themselves...think Rob Zamuner in '98...

UGH! How to beat the USA:
1 - Skate wide
2 - pass to center of ice. or slot
3 - American defender fall down
5 - Goal
6 - Repeat

Well we have pretty good D-man prospects.

And some interesting ones that are still at the junior level up front....

I'm fine with the way the Habs have drafted in the last couple of years.

- Scabeh

me too, I'm just saying, most people feel the same about their team prospects

If they had the exact same contract, I'd take Clowe without thinking about it.

But that 3 years of difference is too scary.

At least Jack Johnson didn't make the team.

Byfuglien not being there is also surprising...

And I would have taken Okposo... guy is a (frank)ing machine this year.

Yes and I think Bergevin is trying to fix this a little with last year's draft. Also: Collberg is 5"10... not big but not THAT small either.

Hopefully one of McCarron or De la Rose becomes a big player in our top 6 eventually.

you know, i can see how Yandle was left off. it's surprising but they're obviously trying to build a balanced defence. i would have taken Yandle over one of Fowler or Faulk but whatever. the Ryan thing is mystifying, especially with Parise a bit of a question mark in terms of how he will perform. they don't have a ton of firepower at centre so they need wingers with natural goal scoring ability.

Those are the facts...yes...it his pts total went 52, 57, 62, 45...and then the 40 pts pace of last year.

I think those are better than what we are getting from Briere when you factor in that he doesn't do anything else.

Now, when I first said it, I didn't look at the length of the contract, I agree that 5 years is a long time.

Agreed...a year or 2 too long...but it looks like those extra years is the price GMs have to pay now.

...like those 7 extra years given to Clarkson for that one off-season of glory.

agree on Collberg. listed at 5'11, which won't be that bad once he fills out.

He'd be 6 feet tall and no one would call him small.

But at 5"11: MIDGET!

Kinda sad when you have to say 5'10 is not that small.

I doubt Collberg will play in the NHL, he's struggling to put up points in Sweden
