Is it true Bergevin came back from Sweden to chat with Briere?

I hope they unload him.

- blarneylad

It's about a contract extension.

Ott for Briere is the rumour on the hill no?
- Fredobbface

really?

I thought Buffalo LOVED Ott...

I'd take a draft pick or 2...I don't think the Habs need another 3rd or 4th line player under 6' (likely the best it could get in return for Briere)...so take a draft pick...

The player's height doesn't matter. ffs

Ott is the exact guy I'd want to add to this teams bottom end

Most likely what we'll get for Briere is another player playong below expectations

Quick question:
Has Briere played that poorly or has the coach not figured out the proper way to use him?

We don't need more 3rd or 4th line players, regardless of their height...and we are not getting a top 6 player for Briere...so I would just take a draft pick. I don't think Ott would be any better than White, Moen or Prust...and the other players on the rotating 3rd line all have higher upside than Ott...

Eric, i'm not so sure the prospect pool is that deep. it's deep in 18- and 19-year-olds, as evidenced by some performances in Malmo the past 2 weeks. but in the NHL-ready 20-22 year olds, it's pretty much barren beyond the 3 dmen in Hamilton. and that's what teams are looking for when they make trades. NHL-ready prospects who can step in next year. not sure this is the time to start shedding prospects.

He hasn't been great. But he had a nice cluster of games playing with pleks. Was mroe effective than Bourque so who knows.

Neither do I...I'm not saying that pick should be a first or second rounder either...Hell it doesn't even have to be in the next 2 years!

Poorly, he's been played on the top lines numerous times with very little results

would have to be Briere AND a decent pick or prospect.
and i would take Ott in a heartbeat. he's not that small.

No, Ott is not small...what I'm saying is we are not getting any better than a midget 3rd or 4th liner in return for Briere...so if that's the return, I'd rather have a 4th rounder (or something like that) in the coming drafts.

Strong possibility that Gionta and Briere both could be Sabres in time for BUF's game on Saturday.

also Eric, i think the meltdowns are a major cause for concern. i don't think there's anything feasible that MB can do to improve the offence but there's gotta be something he can do to improve the defence. it's a lousy group. i can't believe one of Tinordi or Pateryn isn't ready for a shot.
