nothing like a game against the Canucks to get them all worked up for a slump buster

For what its worth, I don't believe the twins would have become the same players as they did without a coach of AVs personality. He let them be to play their game.

Totally disagree. The work ethic and determination they both posses got them where they are.

Given his level of play and attractive cap hit, Luongo will be the starter here until Lack has proven he can take over as #1. That's at least two years away, right about the time Lou's contract starts to become very appealing to cap floor teams.

I agree with you, I don't see him getting bought out. I could see him being traded though.

I also think bringing in Sundin was a very underrated move for their development.

Hopefully, their goalie situation is finally catching up with them. Who really expected Scrivens and Jones to carry the load?

I never liked that signing at all. I thought the best piece of crap is what we got with that signing.

leafs wee a horrible team and he was the best piece of a horrible team. I thought he sucked. His first 20 second shift set the tone for me. Huge disappointment

Dude, Sundin nearly carried the Leafs to the playoffs the year before. The only thing I didn't like about the signing was the shape he showed up in. He was still a PPG player in the playoffs, and I think he gave tons of confidence to players like the Sedins and Kesler. If he didn't cost so much money, I would have loved to see him back the following season.

If he didn't get hurt in the playoffs I think we may have made it past Chicago. Anyways, i'm glad he signed here.

I was expecting a Luongo buyout or an "agreement" with Florida.

3 things that have (frank)ed Gillis:

1. Not firing AV when he first took over.
2. The AV/Gillis handling of Luongo/Schneider.
3. Hodgson for Kassian(even if he had to move him, he should have held out for better value).

Bonus: Booth and Ballard*

- Nucker101

3 Things that fukked Gillis even more:

1. NHL changing the rules of the game once the Bruins met them in finals.
2. NHL putting the retroactive penalty into the new CBA which made Luongo's otherwise legal and cap-friendly contract unpalatable to anyone other than Philadelphia.
3. Trading for David Booth.

Until 1. they were the class of the league and highly entertaining. Once you could pin someone to the end boards and hold him there regardless of whether he had the puck of not, the Art Ross winning Sedins suddenly sucked and AV became the worst coach in team history.

If 2. hadn't happened they'd have Cory Schneider and Eddie Lack as their tandem this year and a top 6 winger added to their forwards.

If 3. hadn't happened, they'd have had the cap space for a further upgrade at forward and/or D.

I liked it too. Great hockey player great guy. Sure he was expensive but we had the room and it isn't my money.

This team isn't the Florida Panthers. If you trade Luongo you have to replace him with another quality veteran netminder. Who are you going to get that your veterans will have as much confidence in? What will the cap hit be for someone like that?

Miller as a free agent is probably looking for $7MM per over 5+ years. I've never been a huge Luongo fan but at only $5.3MM he's a much better option than pretty much any other veteran out there.

They could roll with a tandem of Lack / Vokoun or something to that effect. If the opportunity is there to trade him for a substantial return I don't think they'll hesitate.

Vokun might be done now though. Also I think it's too early to figure out ways to get rid of Lou.

I don't think we're trying to figure out ways to get rid of him, just rolling out scenarios.
