From what I have seen lately in Kassian I think he is close to jumping to top 6 by the end of next year. He needs some surrounding toughness and havoc Like an Andrew Ladd. We need to weed out some oldtimers

Will they move their Captain??

He fetched a first rounder last year and he's playing better this season. I think you'll be surprised what he gets traded for at the deadline.
- Chest Rockwell

He fetched a conditional 1st last yr. Which is what I suggested

Did Calgary? If the price is right everyone should be tradeable

We don't need to trade a first to get older.
- VANTEL

Doubt anyone is suggesting moving a 1st for a rental.

In no way am I saying we should trade anything for Jagr. This is not our year for going "all-in". I think we should stay as far away as possible from Jagr. I say we just go through the motions this year, see what UFA's we can sign with the cap going up, try to get the most for Edler, encourage Horvat and Shinkaruk crack the line up.

If all that works out, then we go for it!

I'm not saying to vancouver but I'm wondering whether Ottawa will put Spezza on the market this yr.

Spezza to Columbus for Rychel, 1st and 2nd prospect?
Spezza to NYR for Step, MDZ and 2nd

Well if we trade away all the role players we'll end up with a decent top 6 and an AHL third line. Not an improvement.

Who is the AHL third liner?

I am not trying to be negative because I really like Burrows but as I said before 4 of our top 5 paid forwards have combined for 27 goals halfway through the season. I am not sure what we are afraid of losing? I don't care if we bring in Grenier or Cassels and give them a short stint to see what we have? They could not do too much worse.

Unless there is a top 6 out there that wants out of where he is at I don't think we will see it.

Funny there was a lot of cocky Americans the other day on here. "Gold or Silver at worst" and there was a lot of Canadians jumping off the bandwagon
Apparently Claude Julien was making fun of the media today at his media Scrum after practice

Columbus' new management group is the same 2 guys that ran things in St.Louis, they love powerforwards/gritty types(hence the risky Horton signing). Spezza doesn't seem to suit that mold.

Rangers I could see if ownership wants to try and salvage the season and try to win a playoff round.

Did you not suggest trading Higgins, Hansen, Burrows, Santorelli? Sure looks like a third line to me.

His kids have grown up here I don't see him uprooting his family.

But one good tongue lashing from Tortorella and supposedly Edler's begging to leave? I honestly don't think we'll see any of the top 4 d moved but if we're going to talk about trading one of them out of desperation for secondary scoring then might as well mix it up a bit.

Heatly might be good to rent at the right price but I don't think we would keep him after his contract is up.

Then why trade a second, and we should be sellers instead?

I don't really like him at all. I also don't think Torts would like him either.

Or maybe, just maybe, they need to play 2 rounds in order to make enough money to buy out Lu? Not saying either is going to happen but if i'm an owner and the GM wants me to buy out a contract that size then I tell him to generate the revenue this season.

If u are sitting in a playoff spot and "sell" you might as well forget about getting anybody under decent contract terms for quite a few seasons.
