Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, U.K.--all to some extent socialist countries but with relatively free markets.

NK and China are Communist systems with centrally planned economies.

there is a significant difference both politically and economically. you may want to look into it to be able to discuss more knowledgeably, but not here.

Actually this is the list of declared socialist countires.
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...declared_socialist_states

And have you seen how bad France and Spain are? Spain has whole Cities that arent just bankrupt, but deserted. They have airports that have shutdown and the worst employment... And the UK is no longer socialist.

I thought you were meeting FlyersGrace and I on 12/21?

Of course she hasn't been on the threads since so there's a good chance I killed her and buried the body.

Without getting into a political discussion, the only time I said that is when you mentioned your support of Socialism. I'm not getting into a discussion about it, but google countries that have a socialist government and tell me which ones you would like to live in. I mean with countires like China and North Korea leading the list....

Anyway, when it comes to hockey I really dont see nations. I will root for USA all the way, but I will also throw my support behind Canada and Russia. Above all I just want to watch some great hockey.

I wonder if Kovalchuk is playing for team Russia. And I wonder if my IDOLS Nichushkin and Yakupov make the team.

socialism, captialism ... all systems pretty much benefit the extreme wealthy
difference is with capitalism i can work hard and keep my money at the end of the day (more if it wasn't for those damn liberals)

I'd be upset. Even though there are no Flyers on the USA roster I'm rooting for the kids born and raised on US soil.

Why wouldn't I?

You're a great American. I'll crack a beer with ya to that.

What if Giroux leads the tournament in scoring and nets the gold medal winning goal against the US? Would you be upset or happy?

You don't bury the body. You take it to the woods, have your way with it, and burn it, then take the remains and dump them in the river in a sack filled with concrete. Fool.

I think the major difference is in capitalism people with money have power. In Socialism people in the government have power.

In my experience, business people know how to run things on a budget. Governement doesn't care 1 bit about budget. Why? Because expences come out of the business's pocket, while expenses by the government come out of everyone's pocket.

Ryan also said that the Burke's comments about him were "gutless"

When Ryan said it was gutless he wasn't angry looking for a chance to take a shot at Burke. Seemed genuinely upset.

- Feanor

I'm with Ryan. Burke's comments were out of line and unprofessional. What an bumhole.

in socialism the government has all the money so you have an elite group within the government and the common person doesn't have poop or any incentive to work hard etc.
government should be given as little money as possible because they just waste it
also there should be no such thing as a career politician which is why our founding fathers wanted term limits

You should do some homework. It was a bi-partisan decision during the Clinton era that lead to the affordable housing act, forcing banks to make loans to high risk individuals. When the banks refused, the government passed a bill that would allow the banks to sell these mortgages to government insured fannie may and freddie mac. Why would banks not do this? In Bush's time they tried to fix this, but it was opposed by a certain party. When the recession hit, all the people the bought out of what they could afford defaulted, and the banks couldnt recover because even foreclosed houses werent selling.

Its the perfect example of how a "good idea" like making it easier for poor people to afford houses, has consequences.

yea the sad fact of life is you're not entitled to a house you work for it
too many people don't realize this and think they can just ask for free hand outs from those who actually work hard
