I heard that Burke has never gotten over the fact that during the pre-draft interviews, Ryan mentioned over 3,406 times that it was always a dream of his to play for the Philadelphia Flyers since he is from Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

If you read the article, Burke talks about wanting to draft Jack Johnson instead of Ryan. The scouts told him to take Ryan, so he went along and trusted them.

Throughout the selection process, Burke pushes for Jack Johnson and talks about how hard he'll fight for the team. It's almost like Burke wanted to validate taking Johnson over Ryan and it's clear he's always had a thing against Ryan.

It's truly naive to think these GMs don't go into these things with an agenda.

I mean, it's possible to paraphrase what Burke meant when he questioned Ryan's "intensity". You can read that to mean that Ryan doesn't care, which, if I'm Bobby Ryan, that's exactly how I'm reading it and I'm likely pissed off.

I can't wait for this meme to explode on itself when he signs here as a free agent.

You sure about G and Kimmo? I think Kimmo gets in (if for no other reason) his past, the same way that Forsberg got to play for Swden last time. But Giroux may not.

Maybe that's why Pierre mentions it so much. He's just quoting Ryan.

From the stories I've read, I don't think Ryan has as much of a love for the Philly area as people seem to think.

I think Giroux will make it. He's been a ppg player for the last 2.5 years except for the bad stretch to start this season.

Kimmo will play if he wants to play. I'm sure there is a lot of pressure on him to play.

I think the Olympics is probably one of the reasons Kimmo chose to come back.

And I think Giroux's recent play has put him over the top to get a roster nod.

I care. What does it matter what my nationality is? Its Hockey, so I'm going to talk hockey.

He could have made the roster even if he didn't play professionally. He's still one of their better players.

I am really hoping that g makes it. He's on the bubble for sure but I think his recent play gets him in. On tsn there are a lot of comment from Canadian fans however saying they don't think he should make it. Those are toronto fans who never see giroux play IMO

Bah. I'm just busting balls. I couldn't care less. You could cheer for the Russian team as much as it would interest me. But you've thrown out the whole "you should be ashamed to be an American" thing a few times on this board in various discussions, so it struck me as amusing.

Most of the analysts have him on the roster. That makes me feel confident that he'll make it.

Giroux is playing as confidently as we've seen in awhile.

If he doesn't make it, the silver lining for Flyers fans is that he doesn't get hurt and is fresh for the playoffs.

Exactly. This is why I hope he doesn't make the team. Of course the flip side is he'll be sitting for a while, or at least not playing in any actual games, so does he lose his touch?

I want to see him make the team. It's a dream for players to make their national team. It would be very important to him. Every team is sending their best players, so every team is going to take on risk of injury.

I hope he doesn't make it so the USA has a better chance at Gold.

I think all of that has been way overblown. He lived in Cherry Hill until he was 10 for cripes sake.

What if Giroux leads the tournament in scoring and nets the gold medal winning goal against the US? Would you be upset or happy?
