Glass houses, dude...

By defending Brown's dirty play by saying he's clean & his actions are acceptable, it's the same as wishing injury on someone...

That's fine but the only thing I find odd is the reason they didn't take B Ryan was because of his foot speed yet they chose Orpik? To me that kind of contradicts that theory.

Team USA's defense is going to be exposed in a big way. You make sure your defense is mobile on big ice.

Ryan is no slower than 6 of the 12 forwards taken, and he's a better finisher than pretty well all of them. That said, those are still 12 good forwards to send.

Yandle being left off is an egregious mistake, though, because that defence is a joke. Enjoy being turnstiled by Canada, Sweden and the Russians on 2-on-1 breaks all day.

Suter, McDonagh, and Shattenkirk are all good players. But there is noone else on that roster even in Keith Yandle's stratosphere in terms of talent and playing ability.

Orpik - too slow to be useful on the big ice, not a good passer.
Martin - good at lots of things, great at nothing.
Faulk/Fowler/Carlson haven't done anything in their young NHL careers to justify this.

Burke is a joke, it will be exciting to watch him get fired twice in one year or so when the USA finishes 5th (or worse if Miller gets hurt).

If scoring this year was all that matters then Ryan would be on the team.

Yandle is like Jack Johnson...and neither is on the squad right now. With injuries I can see one being added by Feb. Read the Burnside article on espn, it's pretty interesting.

Yandle is nothing like Jack Johnson, JJ is a mirage who can't play in either end and racks up PP points.

Yandle is one of the best possession players in the league, and with the extra ice to work with he'd have been magical. Quite possible the USA's MVP.

But like I said, Burke never has and never will know how to build a winning team, unless it's handed to him and he just has to add two HOF defensemen.

Its even worse that it seems like Johnson was given a more serious look than Yandle.

Terrible write up. Just a fan boy whining as usual.

You're dead wrong and he's dead on accurate! You obviously know nothing about hockey to disagree on Yandle! Orpik AND Martin should not be on the team!!!! Anyone who can't see why Yandle is better then either one of those guy's, shouldn't even be allowed to comment on here!

Come on man, my Mom reads this and you will make her cry!

Seriously though, I don't know if I was that biased - I did admit it was a possibility, but Yandle's exclusion seems to be causing a universal questioning of the mental stability of Poile and Burke.

He's not just a different version of Letang as someone mentioned: he might just be the best of the (supposedly) one dimensional offensive dmen in his own end/ at five on five etc. But again, when I make statements like this, even though I fully believe them, I really try hard to remember that everyone thinks their guys are the best and that even if I do watch tons of games on TV- I really don't get to travel around and scout the league live and in person, so I try to keep an open mind that I am possibly wrong. For instance, someone who watches every Penguins game might think Letang is underrated defensively, and he might be.

Again, these are just my thoughts and I don't want to present them as if they are for sure, absolute, unquestionable facts. A lot of people subscribe to the idea that you can't just take the 20 best players. I think that's unreasonable, illogical and wrong, but no one has ever put be in charge of building a hockey team. (yet). In my opinion talent wins out and six Ryan Suters would be better than four Ryan Suters and 2 Brookes Orpiks.

Also, no love for Corey Schneider? I watched tons of Vancouver games the last few years and I believe that he is elite - it always boggles my mind how much stock people put in the present. I mean 3 months of Bishop playing good makes him a snub, but 3 months of splitting duties with Brodeur after 3 years of outplaying Luongo? Just something to think about.

Anyways, its a near certainty that Yandle will replace a sure to be injured Orpik, so there's always that.

as a rangers fan i agree. it seems they forgot they were playing on the bigger ice surface! i like McD making it, but cally and stepan should not. imo neither should backes or brown. galchenyuk, saad, ryan, okposo and as you said yandle should all be on this team. maybe not saad, but he should have a spot over cally backes brown. i mean if they were going to go grinder and "heart and soul" players then they should've taken dubinsky. with orpik and martin, you take 1 not both. yandle should be on this team. they are going to miss his offense big time. i am going to be optimistic going in, but it is going to be a tough road to medal. hope miller is ready to stand on his head. i think miller has more than earned the #1 spot with his play this year and quick still on the IR. bishop not making it and howard in as the #3 is absurd. i would have rather seen them give gibson the #3 spot.
