They always find a way of getting signed before FA. WIth the cap going up, the cost for these guys is going to be sky high. I'd like to see a mid-level addition. Stay in the $4M range. I don't want to see 5 years $35M for Pitkanen
- PhillySportsGuy

Quincey maybe? Does he have outlet pass capability? I know I'm watching him right now but I don't see much of him to know for sure.

Don't forget though we have Baby Schenn to worry about

Yeeeeee ikes.

Minor interest in Pitkanen but you have to assume most of the guys at the top of that list are gonna be re signed.

I know it'd be just another old Dman but for the right term I'd be really happy with Markov to replace Timonen for a few years until our youth is ready to contibute

I dunno man with his injury history and that deal being most likely a 6+ mil deal....I'd hesitate on that

Dan Boyle and Kimmo Timonen would be a couple of great pickups if they both find the Fountain of Youth over the offseason. Joni Pitkanen would be a great pick up if he's divorced his young attitude and can stay healthy.

I agree though. But I think these guys are rounding into form. They've been impressive since Christmas. Not dominating games per se, but you know what? I think more importantly we're seeing a team with emotion and a team that can COME BACK.

We've sung the chorus- good teams can face adversity. This team has done a good job with that of late. Hopefully they keep it up.

- Giroux_Is_God

Yea. We don't have to worry about the team trying to scrape together 2-3 goals. I think that's allowed them to play a little looser. It was almost like they had to play the perfect game in the first few months because it would be difficult to come up with 3 or 4 goals if they needed it.

don't want Quincy. He's been unimpressive. Not just this game but overall

I think it's kind of dumb that they switch sides at the 10 minute mark....

Carolina also just traded Gleason, I somehow doubt they'll let Pitkanen walk.

i'd target

1 pitkanen - Injury history, Will cost a lot
2. Niskanen - Inconsistent and definite bust potential
3 quincey - Overrated
4. orpik - Redundant to what the Flyers already have
5. Girardi - Very Expensive

There is a high probably many of these guys will be re-signed anyway. Not trying to poop on your rankings. I just don't see any of them making a major difference especially for the cost.

I'd give Alt a chance before I'd sign anyone for more then 2 years. We really need to stay away from signing defencemen that fall in the top 3-5 range on mult year contracts. We are two years away from are young d crop starting to push for starting spots (hagg, morin, OL, maybe even ghost). I say role the dice next year and hope that Schenn continues to learn consistency, let gus develop, and let coburn streit and grossmann be the veterns. If kimmo wants to sign another one year deal great but don't give him to much and don't panic on a FA

I agree, but they absolutely need help on defense. There's also no guarantee that any of those guys will develop into a top 6 player in the next 2-3 years. Hagg and Morin still look a ways away. I haven't gotten a chance to really watch Ghost or Alt.

well we cannot go with the same d corps in the next season and expect better results
pitkanen or quincy might help with the break out
the others might be good replacements for someone like mezsaros

also i'd look to trade timonen at the TDL for a young d man prospect if possible
we need to think about the future of the defense and not the now
