what are you 12? know anything about how to make money at all? doesnt take a genious to know its economics 101 that you need to spend money to make money. cant draw a crowd if your in last place...thats how you lose money....not putting a contending team on the ice is how you lose money. spending money and turning into a competitor is how you make money. you think hes losing 10 mil a year for any reason other than the islanders are the worst team in professional sports over the last 15 years? if they were contending, he would be making money. they arent contending becuase they wont spend any money. where is wang spending money exactly to you guys? blown away by how retarded hockeybuzz people are. this is stuff that chris botta has been saying for years...but im the one thats uneducated..sure

[quote=XxNYIxX]Again.. lack of reading skills is killing you.

You were talking about Pitts ability to make money... I pointed out that their new Arena helped a whole lot in that... I never said they were good because of the arena.

Having a budget to minimize losses is not cheap it is smart. Snow has never been handcuffed on adding a salary that makes sense.. he added 4 million in one trade this season alone. He has offered above market contracts to free agents that choose elsewhere, but Wang has always given Garth the ability to add to that budget.

what trade, exactly?

those teams all spend a SIGNIFICANT amount of money, did not nickle and dime to bring in washed up veterans, which snow is notorious for, becuase he doesnt have all the money in the world to work with. snows budget is simple...as close to the floor as possible. so whether you want to call it cheap or call it a budget, its being cheap. not sure why you have such a hard on for wang's economic decisions, they have done nothing but hurt this franchise. they need to spend money without first consulting wang. that is what the job of a GM is...and when neil smith tried to do so, he was fired.

you're the blind one man, not me.

Wang is too CHEAP to fire Snow and/or Cappy.
When will everyone admit he only bought the team to get his lighthouse project.
He is a pure businessman! Can't say I blame him.

the team is moving to brooklyn and there is no lighthouse project...whats wangs next move?

snow is a part of the problem yes but this is not all snow's fault. it all starts from the owner and trickles down from there. wang is the cheapest owner of any professional sports team. hes been nickle and diming for a decade now, leaving snow very little to work with. with the budget hes been given, hes actually done a pretty good job. if our owner would allow us to spend more money, snow could attempt to make some more moves. without spending money, its hard to improve drastically from year to year.

and capuano is bad, but he is not the worst coach this organization has ever seen.

and lastly, snow actually takes all of the blame for not winning.

- slapshot018

Capuano is terrible and is having a profound negative effect on our prospects so his effect on our overall rebuild is a huge negative. Keeping him on as coach is beyond moronic and goes against the very thing Snow said he set out to do in the first place. It's this incompetence that makes Snow a terrible GM. Also, there are GM's that have done far more with less. Saying Snow gets a pass because of a shoe string budget at this point is silly. Bouchard, Regin, Carkner, etc. This money could've been invested in two top four D men or goaltender or both. Every single person in the world knew what our weaknesses were besides Snow evidently.
There is no excuse for investing in terrible players or in areas that don't need help. There is so much wrong with Snow's thought process that defending it makes people look kind of stupid.

name the last trade or free agent signing on a start player before vanek.....ryan smyth....why? because wang wont spend money. do you really think snow has an unlimited budget and is choosing himself not to spend money? what kind of GM would do that? and if that was the case, what owner would not fire their gm? you are literally the first and only "islander" fan that ive ever heard say its not wang, its snow...thats just insane. it ALL starts with wang.
- slapshot018

They offered Kovalchuck, Errhoff, and other players large contracts(not coming to mind right this second but there were others). Snow couldn't sell this mess of a team that he constructed to them. Simple as that. Wang was willing to spend money.

Maybe if he would have put a winning team on the ice he would not be losing money every year.

Hopefully the value of the team goes up a little and then he sells.
I doubt the location does much for the attendance issue.
Look at the Nets they still can't sell any tickets.

Need to spend money to put a winning product on the ice.

umm wang.

if snow is soo incompetent..which i agree, he is....wang, being the business man he is, should know that and fire him and hire someone else. he wont because he knows snow will do as wang says. neil smith tried to do things his way..fired..we're a small market team so not saying we need to spend the max every year but you think that wang isn't partially behind snow's decisions? lets be real for just one second. its talked about everywhere, besides hockeybuzz which is the worst hockey website in the world and i literally only come here becuase im that bored at work...its so unreliable and full of people that dont know anything about hockey. snow has been here for a loooong time...doesnt take a genius to see that he hasnt built a contending team...if he had a bigger budget and put together this team, he would be fired. fact is, he is doing a decent job wiht teh budget hes been given and wang likes that he will do as he says.

Neil Smith wasn't fired. He quit. Snow is not doing a decent job with the money he's been given. He has been given the OK to pursue Kovalchuck(10 million a year), Erhoff(5.5 million a yr over 7 yrs), Ryan Smyth(7 million he was offered) he just couldn't get them to sign. Whose fault is that? Wangs? No, it's Snow's. He's not a good salesman that's part of his job unfortunately. He invested money in players like Reasoner, Bouchard, Regin, Pandalfo, when they were so obviously not needed when that money could've been spent in areas of need. Is that Wang's fault? My point is Snow is not doing a decent job. Not in any sense of the word. He hired and kept on a subpar coach who is instrumental in developing the prospects we accumulated and suffered for the last 7 years. That is Snow's fault. Listen, Wang sucks I hate him and think he's a terrible owner but Snow is a deplorable GM and doesn't deserve the pass that some fans give him like yourself.
BTW, if you think hockeybuzz is filled with morons and it's the worst site in all of hockey than wtf are you doing here? Bored at work? Why don't you just go to another site instead? Makes no sense like parts of your posts? Sure, there are a lot of morons on here but there are some knowledgeable fans as well. If you hate it so much seems kind of moronic in itself that you're here?
