Was Seth Jones a lock though? There were various scouting reports who had Jones in the 2-3 scotuing range, IIRC.

McDavid has been the 2015 consencus #1 for 2 years now.

After they did the lottery, they interviewed Jones, the entire interview was based on the premise of playing for the team he grew up watching (Colorado). It was like it was a done deal already

Yup. It was interesting the way that all went down. Especially when you consider that Colorado's weak spot was defense. It was like he fell right into their lap. They decided to go with MacKinnon instead though. Their defense has been better this year, but I still think in the end it's the weak link and will be exposed once the playoffs roll around.

I remember that interview. It had a lot to do with race (being the first colored player to possibly go #1 overall) and him playing for COL where he grew up. Wasnt Jay-z part of that interview? It had 0 to do with overall actual ability and comparison to others in teh draft.

it was a phone interview during the coverage of the lottery. Best part about it was that they had a picture of Jones, and then an Av's emblem next to him (If I remember correctly) I felt like I was watching the draft

Since I know everyone was on pins and needles wondering about my post from earlier...

Gerbe:
9 goals (would be 1st)
10 assists (T-3rd)
19 points (T-1st)

Additional notes: 2 pp goals, 4 pp assists, 1 shg

Sekera:
7 goals (1st among d-men)
14 assists (1st again)
21 points (duh - 1st)

In comparison, Ehrhoff has 2g, 12a

Like Goose mentioned in the other thread, seeing Gerbe play under Nolan would probably be pretty cool.

Gerbe wouldn't be 1st. Moulson would.

I just watched the CLBJ video of the draft. Buffalo Wanted Max Domi.

CLBJ also offered Buffalo the 27 for both 2nd Rounders. 38 and 52.

Maybe he left Moulson out because not all of his scoring has come while in Buffalo.

That's the point though. MacKinnon was the #1 going into the WJC and dropped because of his performance in it. In the end, he still went #1, but the WJC can do some wacky things.

Really the main difference here is that McDavid isn't eligible for the draft until next season. So it's still hard to say what's going to happen.

Oh I agree, I brought it up. A lot can change from now until June, also a ton can change from now until June 2015. However he's right that Jones wasn't talked about like McDavid

The NHL mobile site only lists his goals with the Sabres which is 7 I think. He has 13.

ISS has their by the month but I can only find for this year. Always say i need to favorite the final rankings and never do. Last one I have is from when we drafted TJ Brennan who was ranked 100 slots high than Pernal Karl Subban

Correct. He had 6g, 3a in NY and 7g, 10a in Buffalo. So 13 goals and 13 assist for a total of 26 points combined between the two teams.
