Fair enough, when I see Franzen I usually like his play. To each their own. You going to the Winter Classic?
- Rally_Shots

I think what he's trying to say is that Franzen is a good player. With his skill set, however, he should be a great one, but he's not.

nah,

was going to go but my buddies arent big enough hockey fans willing to shell out that much for a hockey game.

but, theyll go to a loser lions game.

That sucks, I was at the game here a few years back and it was a blast. Outdoor games work so well in football stadiums, baseball not so much.

franzen should play the game like a cam neely, milan lucic, a true power forward . but he doesnt, plays like brian gionta.

youll never see franzen get a gordie howe hat trick or steam roll a guy with a huge hit.

so yes, i hope Mantha is a James Neal and not a Franzen type player.

Everybody else does the work and Mantha gets the goal. Not impressed with his game as a whole. He just had the puck on a 3-1 and didn't get a shot or pass off...
- theblueandgold

I'm cool with Zadarov, but Mantha didn't score 50 goals last year and scoring about a goal per game this year because everyone else is doing all the work. Maybe on that goal it's how things went down, but in general the kid has a great sense for the net and how to be in position to score. If he was on a 3-on-1 and didn't get a shot or pass off, then he's perfect for the Sabres... sometimes I think that is a requirement of wearing the jersey. Seriously, if we could the draft over... I'd take Nichushkin instead of Ristolainen and keep Zadarov. I was in shock when they passed over Nichushkin... I have my ideas on why they did (disappointment in Grigorenko being one of them and the threat Nichushkin made about returning to Russia, being the other). Is what it is now... time will tell how it all works out.

I got what he was saying. I was just commenting that when I see him I usually like his game.

i was shocked that they didnt take nichuskin. however both ristolainen and zadorov both are departures from the darcy ideal- you know, the smooth skating puck moving defenseman that waves his stick and never does much of anything. i wonder if the sabres knew that zadorov would still be on the board at 16 if they would have gone another way with ristolainens pick. something tells me (rutherford from carolina saying that the offer was on the table for the 5th overall and darcy shot it down, and i believe it was devine asking pegula if he really wanted to be harder to play against right before picking zadorov at 16) that they really wanted ristolainen and were lucky to get zadorov when they did.

Mantha is a sniper. We have what Mantha brings but with more skill in Joel Armia. We won't know for years who the better player is, but Zadarov and Ristolainen are incredibly impressive IMO. They are 18 year old defensemen who held their own in the NHL for a short period.

Both of them will be very difficult to play agaianst for years

Devine looked like a little kid on Christmas when he realized Zadorov was still available a few picks before they took him. He never thought that he'd still be there at 16.

I'm thinking about heading down to Erie on Feb 26th to see London play the Erie Otters. Thought it could be fun to see Zadorov and Austin play and get a look at McDavid in person.

They wanted Max Domi. They were going to trade up to 14 to get him if he was still there.

Supposedly. There's no 100% proof of that. I know for sure that Devine was excited about Zadorov. The the Blue and Gold series shows that.

Beyond Blue and Gold is the source. As soon as Domi's off the board, the sabres pull the offer.

Also on the Jacket's draft video, it has the CBJ GM say "Sabres wanted Domi"
