I dont really understand. Shouldn't the Phaneuf announcement be today? I thought HBO films everything up until the Classic. The game is on wednesday. Today would have been the perfect day to film and have the announcement in Toronto. The Leafs are going to Detroit tomorrow I thought.

I'm going on record now, I think Phaneuf at 7mil over 7 years is an appropriate deal. I would not have been opposed to trading him for some younger talent, but since it seems he's staying, I'm not unhappy with it.

Clarkson has had awful stats but i like his game and i think he'll flourish in the playoffs. Im not saying we don't have poorly signed deals, but leafs nation is the worst at jumping to conclusions very, very quickly.

Weiss gets a pass this season, Gustavsson got one last season and has played great this season. Weiss better get back to his 50-60 pt. florida days or he will be set in stone as the next time connoly.

I would imagine that a press conference would be held like they did for Phil. I understand if they have delayed so it can be included in the final episode, but I would be surprised if the final episode is the first we hear of the announcement.

People who constantly bash Phaneuf and his deal need to at least propose a reasonable alternative. Anybody who watches the Leafs and knows hockey understand what he brings to the team. It is obvious that guys like Gardiner, Reilly, Franson, etc absolutely cannot replace Phaneuf's minutes against top line players effectively.

If people are going to bash the deal then please propose what the Leafs should do instead. Trade for Shea Weber? Keeping Phaneuf makes sense.

People hate the Leafs. People hate Phaneuf. It's a bad combo and I can understand why many fans of other teams will make fun of the deal. But for Leaf fans that are moaning about the Phaneuf deal, get a clue.
