Can't really blame him for the current infected cut, or the food poisoning last year, or the broken toe blocking a shot last year. And then he's had a knee twice and a hip injury that lingered. He's also battled through some of those when he probably should have rested. - hardnosed
Yeah, it's hard to put the injury prone label on guys who have freak injuries. |

I'm okay with giving him a breather. He's played hard. Had a few tough plays last game. Get Despres out there with Bortuzzo(they practiced together). - HopintheCordoba
Absolutely. The kid went from juniors to the NHL. Then from getting 3rd pairing minutes to 1st pairing minutes. A well deserved break. |

I'll believe that he's a scratch when I see it. He's got to learn to work through rough patches eventually.
Then again, maybe the two dogs/one bone gambit would bring out the best in both he and Despres. |

He is going to be a scratch. Already confirmed. Apparently they meant to give him a break weeks ago but because of all the injuries they couldn't. |

If domoulin is the more promising prospect why'd he get sent down and despres stayed? Trade? Or just bs? Couldn't believe he was manning the top pp over maatta and despres. Sometimes I wish management would be open about what they are looking at. That way I wouldn't think they were crazy all the time |

Maatta wasn't getting a ton of 2nd PP minutes when the Penguins were healthy, and Despres wasn't being used much on the PP at WBS, while Dumoulin was. |

Pens should try to swing a deal with Buffalo for Moulson and Ott. They could include both Niskanen and Depres in the deal. |

Letang, Bennett, Jarry, Martin, 1st to Edmonton
Yakupov, Ference, Klefbom to Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh adds firepower and defense to win now.
Edmonton adds two top 4 dmen, a future top 4 in Jarry and another young forward who is currently more proven than Yak. - therealagent
This might be the worst proposed trade on here I've ever seen. That trade doesn't help the Penguins at all; it actually makes them worse in every way. |

Depres and Harrington for Yakupov? What is wrong with people? Yakupov was selected 1st overall a YEAR ago. I can understand not willing to move anyone of importance like Letang for Yakupov because of the question marks he has but if anyone thinks you can trade pieces like Depres and Harrington for Yakupov you've lost your mind.
Imagine Yakupov was your player, would you move him for Belov and Musil? (Just an example, I'm not saying those 2 equals Depres and Harrington) - Steven_Dean
Pittsburgh would be giving up way too much for Yak. He isn't worth that in my book and I don't give a poop that he was the first overall pick. Yak is a risk to me.

A Letang to edmonton deal makes sense, they need quality D, and Letang is enough to pry one of the super kids away. Anyone of those kids playing with sid would be down right scary. Maybe Letang for Eberle and a decent prospect, or Yak and a first rounder would do the trick? Either way i really don't want to see it happen as a flyers fan. - Girouxsalem90
I would do Letang straight up for Eberle and they don't even have to throw another prospect.

This makes both teams better.. oil desperately need mobile d men that can move the puck through the nuetral zone... he ll make hall an RNH better.

Shut up Jerks.
I can't lie. I fully expect a very good United States team to spank a questionable Canadian team. I mean look at the game so far. Canada is not looking great.
All I can hope is that they have been trying to lure the teams like Sweden and USA into a false sense of security. |

Still trying to figure out how the Germans can beat the Czech Republic, but the Canadians couldn't. Strange.
Canada v. US should be a good solid game. We aren't spanking Canada, if we win.
Sweden is on a different level this year. |

Wouldn't count them out yet. Canada really looked scary in the 3rd. If they bring that game--they're far from out of this. It's like they remembered how to play all of a sudden. Let's hope they forget again in the morning.

I fully expect their best game. Hopefully it's not enough. The us 3rd line is my favorite. Big and mean and skilled. Us hockey is doing a nice job developing its players. They all attack defenseman now and display a lot of skill. I could see the top NHL player being American in the next 10-15 years. |

I would say move Martin. He was the best blueliner for us last year.... but that was one year. People were screaming for him to be traded the few years before... and he's been injured most of this season. He's up there in age, and his shutdown partner, Brooksy is probably gone after this season. I think it's time to keep getting younger. |

The question with Letang has to be about how the team is playing defensively. Has there been an statistically difference in his absence? The Pens should be worried about defensive play come in April, offense should not be a problem. The organization has stockpiled PMD, but what about physical netfront defenders. Depres is a big boy, and you need to worry about going up against Boston this spring. |

Can't see the Pens getting rid of Letang. Sorry but there is nobody to take his place.
I think once playoffs start (provided they are all healthy) Scuderi-Letang
Martin-Orpik getting most of the ice time |
