Sucks that we have to go up against two of the best back to back, but at least we'll be done with the Pens and done with a lot of our tougher western games.

And yes, I think its the first afternoon game.

Thats good I am wondering how our slower version of our team does against the Hawks this time. Man it was like jagr wasn't even playing during that game

The similarities between us and the hawks is that we both play a game revolved around possession and puck support. The difference is that they are twice as fast and twice as skilled

I'm not getting my hopes up. Pittsburgh's pretty banged up, that's the one we need to win.

But they still have been good. I hope we have a second half over .500 but I don't know if we will who knows with our schedual getting easier but I think the way we are built we will float around exactly where we are now unless Cory runs with the starting job.

I just hope Lou doesn't get pumped full of false hope if they're a borderline bubble team & isn't trigger shy with the likes of Jagr & Zidlicky. Hopefully he'll move Salvador and/or Volchenkov but I'm not holding my breath.

Jagr & Zids could fetch something worth while. At least to soften the blow at the draft. Can't hurt to inject some more prospects/picks into the system, especially at forward.

Quick is one of the best goaltenders in the world when games matter. He was record setting in the 2012 playoffs, and was better last year. This year he was playing behind an extremely sloppy LA team. A team that got better defensively. Jones winning streak came from a defense that had him playing from behind for less than a whopping 4 minutes until he finally lost his first game.

The Kings defense was in the bottom ten before Quick went down. Him getting injured woke them up and they rose to #1, their play has been night and day since he went out, he was left out to dry constantly, there was maybe two goals I'd fault Quick on this season, one of being that flub against the Rangers which is an indication of luck not skill.

He's well ahead of Schneider in terms of ability. If he plays like he has the last two playoffs he's easily the best netminder of the tournament.

Its hard to get a read on this team. According to TG 15 of our losses were by a goal and 2 more were 2 goal losses that had an empty netter. We're close to being a +.500 team, just about finding that 1 extra goal in some of these games. Maybe the easier schedule will help, but I'd rather try to add someone for the second line. It would be nice if we could start rolling 4 lines again too.

And yet he will still lose to the Canadians... Heartbreaking truly heartbreaking.

You're an easy grader. The puck seems to find a lot of holes when quick plays in the regular season. There was certainly some shoddy defense on some of them, but if Quick plays like he has in the past 2 regular seasons US doesn't have a chance.

If he's healthy, I still have a lot of faith in Quick. Even last year he had a pretty bleh regular season and again was outstanding in the playoffs. He seems to just raise his game to a new level when the stakes are high, and I'd say the Olympics count as high stakes.

edit: Don't really pay attention to the woman's game, although I know its basically only the US and Canada that compete. Is the US that much better?

I'm all for USA but I just have a feeling a European team will win. I think Sweden is going to be real good, and historically the North American teams struggle on the bigger ice in Europe. Should be very exciting, really looking forward to it.

For sure man that is the wild card. The big ice will make or break our north american teams. If the Russians don't medal do you think they will be killed ?

I honestly don't think in a tourny like this that Lou or Price would be much worse then Lundqvist or Quick or Miller. Lou takes way to much heat from that scf maybe the Canucks where just to soft ? Guy isn't a has been he is just a guy who is over 30 with a big contract if he had a 4 mil contract Schneider never would of been considered the starter or Lou would of been moved in a heartbeat.

Yeah, after he won the cup I had a lot more faith. One bad game and you're done so I don't have a lot of confidence for someone who only plays elite for a few weeks every year. Also, I'm not a big fan of his style on the international ice. Plays too aggressive IMO. And don't get me wrong, I still think Quick should be on the team.

Schneider was outplaying Lou at the end of his time there. Lou is still good and I'm sure he can still have a great tournament, but he'd be behind Lundqvist, Miller, and whoever Finland plays in my opinion.
