It's easy to see why Quick should be taken.
Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe, ESPY awards. Proven goaltender in the playoffs. The last two years in the playoffs, Quick has a 1.41 and 1.86 GAA and .946 and .934SV%
Quick comes together when the pressure is on.
Howard played for the WC last year posting high numbers of 2.42 and .910 and is a consistent playoff performer.
Miller almost won gold last Olympics.
Schneider flopped in the playoffs last year with a 4.62 GAA and .880 SV%. Total choke after the net was given to him.

That was also a circus show so I give him a little credit. That whole situation would likely hamper any goalies concentration. |

Just got a thing on fb from Marty's page showing off his stadium series helmet. I would be surprised if he didn't get that game. |

Good, start kicking the trade tires before the deadline, force Lou into something. As far as the goalies, I'm glad Cory didn't make it. Gives him time to rest up. |

I think Pete gives him enough time to rest up in the first place... |

Aside from the fact that we'll be horrible for the rest of this year without him, it would be nice to pick up a 2nd rounder. That's where we got Severson and Santini recently. |

If Corey was on PIT, ANA, or CHI he'd probably be undefeated and starting for team USA. - FAZOOL
Let's not go overboard here. Corey's a very good goalie and some day he may be considered elite. |

I would feel better seeing Miller, Schneider, and Bishop. - Maskdman3
And Quick doesn't make the team? Absurd! He is better than all 3 you named above. The only way Quick is not on the team and the #1 is if he is still injured. |

If he was getting consistent starts he'd probably be there. I don't know if there is any site that keeps track of this but I bet Corey gets the worst goal support in the league. - rmdevil313
Agreed he gets less goal support. However I think it's because he can't play the puck effectively, which leads to the defense having to make breakout passes up the ice, which slows down the Devils offense. (i.e., less scoring). Marty's GAA may be a bit higher but they score more with him in net because of his puck handling ability and his breakout passes |

I think he ment of the goalies in consideration for the job.. If Cory had 15-20 wins right now he might have been a no brainer but because he likely has less goal support then any of them he doesn't have the wins the other guys have ( outside of MIller ) and doesn't have the resume of taking the USA to the gold medal game the last time around like MIller does. |

Its never been an issue with any other of our backups before. When Marty came back last year we still couldn't score. When he got hurt our goalscoring didn't drop off because we put in Clemmer. And this defense is the most mobile, best producing defense we've had in a long time. They are the most important part of our offense. Its not like we create a lot off the rush either. Corey and Marty still face the same amount of shots per game, which is where you'd really expect to see Marty's puckhandling to have an effect. Corey has also played the better defensive teams by a fairly wide margin. Marty has played every game against the bottom 8 defensive teams (except the last one against NYI) while Corey has gone up against almost exclusively top defensive teams. Aside from 1 game each against the Islanders (29th) Sabres (18th), Hurricanes (20th), Jets (22nd) and Leafs (17th) all his teams half been in the top half defensively. |
