Schneider on the wings would turn them into a contender IMO. - rmdevil313
Obviously have no way to prove that but I really think he is better then Howard and Howard plays for the better team. |

I'm fine with Miller too he has been great this year on a horrible team. Just wish the two insurance policies weren't two guys who have been hurt pretty much all year. Seems like an unnecessary risk. Wish Bishop or Schneider was taken. At least Bishop over Howard should have occurred. - NickA
As a Canadian I wish WE had Miller...we would take the Gold in a walk....

I haven't really liked him until this year he has been unreal and when you think about who he plays behind it makes it even more real. Hopefully we figure teh big ice out this year ! |

Howard: 6w in 21 games
Schneider 5 wins in 18 with about 1.5 goals per game in support.
Schneider isn't starting everyday simply because the team hasn't scored in front of him. Howard was losing his starting job because he was getting outplayed. - rmdevil313
If Corey was on PIT, ANA, or CHI he'd probably be undefeated and starting for team USA. |

I'm having troubles following your logic....
You claim Enroth should be on team Sweden because of past accomplishments even if others like Lehner or Gustavsson are playing better right now.
Yet would clearly pick Bishop over Howard because Bishop is playing great hockey this season while Howard, despite having more past success and experience, is struggling this year.
- Scabeh
Let's clear this one up. The Americans clearly have a better pool to choose from than the Swedes. Enroth hasn't really played much this year and yes he hasn't had the greatest numbers. He's won a gold medal in the past year and has more than a season's worth of experience. I guess my argument changes when speaking about the Americans and the Swedes, dependent on this situation. I'd go with Lundqvist, Enroth and Gustavsson. Lehner just doesn't have the experience. As far as the Americans are concerned, Bishop has enough experience to be a third goalie on a team of all NHL starting goalies. The Swedes are probably gonna employ 2 backups. If I'm calling upon backups, I'm looking at body of work. Enroths had some phenomenal games and some not so greats. But like I said. Won a medal. As a starter in the NHL, I just think Howard has been too terrible this year to get the call over Bishop.
So as you can see, I look at these two teams independently of their situations. |

Lehner has the tenth best SV% in the league on a team that hasn't played any defence for the first half of the season.
He has been outstanding, and should easily be starting over Anderson right now in every game he can.
Enroth has been awful this year, and it's pretty hard to push the team-based excuse because his teammate in Miller has a 0.927 behind that same team.
0.909% is not olympic worthy on any of the top squads. - TommyDeVito
Most of his bad numbers come from the first 2 months of the season, where even Miller's numbers suffered. Clearly Miller's a better goalie, no one needs to argue that. Just saying, the team defense has greatly improved past few weeks. |

I just don't think Howard is better the Schneider period. My brother is a Wings fan and I have never thought he was a great goalie. He is a good starting goalie on a team with a lot of talent. I think if he played for us he would sink not swim. - blizzzard
I don't think Howard is much of a goalie either, but I can see where management is coming from in their decision. Regardless Ryan Miller has posted fantastic numbers on a far below average team and I feel he will make a big splash for the Americans again this year. |

Bottom line is he is good enough to be there. You are fooling yourself if you think Howard carries Detroit because frankly it's the other way around. There is little doubt in my mind that Schneider is better then Howard. - blizzzard
This year, yep. Overall, he's a more consistent goalie than Jimmy. I really just don't like Jimmy. |

No doubt. It is kind of a moot point unless Miller has a bad game or two for some reason of the start which is unlikely. |

Miller* was rocking a .936-.940 in the first month and a bit no? I remember being blown away by his numbers while he was 1-10 |

Quite the contrary. He was awful. The team was awful. Now, the team is actually pretty decent. Obviously we're missing scoring. But at least they try.
Anyway, get rid of the first month and without looking I'd say Miller's GAA is under 2.
Edit: So I checked. After Anaheim absolutely shelled us, like the game before Rolston was fired, Miller's GAA has been 2.12. On this team...dang. |

If he was getting consistent starts he'd probably be there. I don't know if there is any site that keeps track of this but I bet Corey gets the worst goal support in the league. |

For reference, as it's not shown on Todd's graph, consider that Bishop's save percentage since the start of the lockout shortened season is .928. That's from a 51 game sample size. |
