Vanek is as Yashin was - slow skater with great hands and creativity. He's not a speed guy and he's certainly not a forechecker. I actually liked Yashin, thought he did well considering how poor his linemates were, but that's a whole other topic.

Vanek's not the issue on this team.

Spread it out throughout the pairings. If anything give it to harmonic and dehaan. Don't continue to give your worst defenseman almost thirty minutes a night.
