If Gillis offered Tanev for Gardiner, he would get instantly hung up on. To say that Toronto would have to give up Gardiner + is just foolish and entering the scooby doo realm.

Not a chance in hell Nonis even considers trading a former 1st rd pick full of potential for an undrafted guy who has never even played 40 games in a season

- GardinerExpress

I see you don't watch Tanev

On canucks shutdown pairing and has more points and a far better plus/minus then Gardiner. But hey he sucks and Gardiner is amazing

I don't know how everyone else feels, but I'm getting really tired of hearing Dreger speak. He went from reliable insider/trade breaker to town gossip since Nonis took the reigns.

(frank)ing sick of his daily meanderings.

I think it would be really cool if we saw McLaren drive his fist down Scott's throat and pull out a beating heart tonight...

But that's just me.

Wouldn't mind seeing that either, but has McClaren lost a bit of his balls/nerve this yr? Doesn't seem as mean imo

Nah I don't think so. I think a lot of people just really don't want to fight the dude. Guys a nut and a monster. Anyway, I hope Orr is gone after this season and McLaren stays around. Unless they both go then Devane can come up I suppose.

They do lead the league in hits this year (just checked).

It really doesn't seem like it when you watch the games though. We've seen them get bullied by the smurfs for gods sake.

GARDINER IS NOWHERE NEAR SUBBAN IN ANY ASPECT!!! THAT MIGHT BE THE WORST COMPARISON I'VE HEARD THIS YEAR. NOT MENTION GARDINER HAS ZERO PHYSICALITY TO HIS GAME. THE ONLY HITS HE GETS ARE THOSE IN THE MINUS COLUMN. I LIKE GARDINER, BUT TO MENTION HIM IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS SUBBAN IS JUST LUDICROUS.

Relax and read my post again

I did not say they are currently comparable

I specifically said it was his upside

Horrible, 7 years is simply too long.
7 million is too much but expected I guess.
Glad we found a long term replacement for McCabe....gonna enjoy watching Dion get danced around by the opposition for the next 7 years.

If the resigning is true, Nonis has to trade for a dman to play top minutes (ya I know easier said than done), to drop Dion to the second spot where he doesn't play more than 22 - 23 mins and there's less pressure for him.
We simply arent going to need all 3 of Franson, Rielly, Gardiner...one will have to go.
If the leafs are serious about going for a stanley cup, they'll need a 1# center and another top dman....they need to do something about that this season.
If Nashville is looking to shed Weber's contract....unload the kitchen sink and get him. I'd prefer M Staal...but his head could be a mess and probably isnt available.
Either way, this D corps needs to be revamped...Gunnar can no longer play on the top dline....on a stanley cup team...he's a 5th dman.
Nonis has to make big changes, if he resigns Dion long term and keeps him as Captain. He will have to get veteran leadership.....resigning Bolland will be a good start.

- Fakepartofme

so its 7 mil for a no2 dman, frank frank frank

yes they do in both...this season (or at least a week ago when I looked)

I think this notion they need to hit and fight more is something made up in leaf fans heads to make them feel better. HIT MOAR!!!

The leafs never have the (frank)ing puck... so they can hit all they want, it isnt helping
Team like SJ, StL,Chicago are in the bottom half of the league in both..Half the hit totals of Toronto..

the team sucks the way they are playing.. hitting more wont do anything

no.. its not

gardiner is liles at best once he matures.. which in fairness.. is a good reliable nhl d-man... subban is an all star norris trophy winning olympian (if not this time then next)

gardiner is nothing close to subban... nor will he ever be

I think he surpasses that expectation to be honest. Nowhere near Subban but better than a Liles.

hmm he has 1 extra point this year, but less than 1/2 the points jake has in his career, despite playing more games. He must be a true shutdown guy, which is why
he is 5th among nucks D in ice time. He is right handed and from Toronto which is a bonus, but i'd expect the nucks to have to give up a lot more to get Gardiner.
If Morgan Rielly didnt show up this year, NO ONE would be talking about moving Gardiner. He was a force in the playoffs, is probably our best possesion D-man, and has nights where he is simply the best player on the ice. to me just not worth it for a guy who has hit a career high in points with 12 and games with 39, but hey im sure you can get a pile of nucks fans to disagree
