Let Ranger, Fraser, and Franson go, either through trade or FA. Opens up plenty of room for youngsters without getting rid of one of the best d-men in the league.

But lets not forget that the team already has Rielly and Gardiner on roster- pretty young guys. Getting more youngsters on roster doesn't help things, By any means. Just exposes them more, and (frank)s with their confidence in the long run.

The format is different now. Its the top 3 teams in each division and two wild cards. The thing is though, if the Rangers get more points than the Flyers then they replace the Flyers. They don't replace us. We're in 7th. We have a 1 team cushion between us and being on the outside. The Rangers and Devils are 9th and 10th. They can make the playoffs by gaining more points than the Flyers. Its not us that gets booted until they have more points than us.

Once again, Phaneuf was invited to Team Canada camp, so saying he is horrible indicates your argument is invalid.

Leafs are still 7th. The standings don't change. What you're saying makes no sense. The divisions only means that 3 teams from the division get in. It doesnt make Philly jump over us... Philly has less points than us, which is why we're 7th and they're 8th.

My point is Phaneuf is not worth the 7x7 deal. Of course he brings more than komo. But well managed teams have players who exceed the value of their contracts, not struggle to live up them.

It doesn't work that way. The 8th place team is the team that is the first to be removed from the playoff picture when the 9th place team has more points. If the 9th and 10th place teams were Eastern conference teams than this would be more logical. How are we 8th, when the Rangers winning tonight and the Flyers losing tonight means the Flyers are out, the Rangers in? Regardless if we win or lose. Get it now?
