5 million dollar players will ask for 6 million.

What my friend is trying to say is that 7mil over 7 years for Phaneuf will not look like a terrible deal in a few years when comparable/lesser defencemen will sign larger contracts because of an increase in the salary cap.

I think he's top 20 in the league...he's a good dman....but I agree...not worth 7 million.
