Hey Gunnar, why are the Rochester Americans playing in the Spengler Cup? They are going to get dismantled in that tournament. |

We looked like $hit the first half of the game , very lucky to come away with 2 pts. |

We had our chance but Shero drafted another PMD instead. - Oneonta Penguin
pretty much got 1/2 year out of Brendan Morrow instead of how many years out of Saad?
if that doesn't make you vomit, what will? |

Agree with this ...
Then again, I will stick to my guns. If Joe Morrow didn't fall down the depth chart in the eyes of management, Shero doesn't trade him for B. Morrow. Something wasn't there. I would have traded him for a longer term solution, not a rental. |

Way too many moving parts here. Dupes out; Vitale is on the first line. Neal gets alot of shifts with Sid/Kunitz ... nothing on the second line when that happens.
We need our forwards back soon. Hell, Glass was a welcome addition back with our forwards. Hopefully Malkin is back for Columbus. I'm beginning to wonder if Bennett is cursed.
This is what happens when you are the Penguins; you have little depth in the farm at forward and top players go down. All the sudden Vitale is on the first line and Zolnierczyk is on second line. This is why a deal in the offseason needs to be named involving a certain blueliner that didn't play tonight; who is all the sudden a fragile player that will be making north of 7 million per year.

I'm going to assume that it was about the whole problem morrow had with the penguins about his defense. I think the penguins didn't think he was good enough defensively to play high caliber NHL hockey and dumped him.
But to me, Saad was the automatic pick there. I just will never understand how you pass on him. |

Hindsight is 20/20 , the Peguins are definitely in disarray , lines are different almost every shift , different players every game , it's a miracle we have any chemistry at all. I thought Neal looked good on the first line , but it sacrifices the second line , health is underrated. |

certainly it is easy to say that now, but I have always believed that saad was the better pick given our situation.
home grown kid, had to have been on the penguins radar for a long time, cant have just snuck up on them, a good player who can play both offense and defense... to me, it wasn't much of a question. I recall that morrow fell a couple of spots but saad seemed like the slam dunk.
to me, when we have a full roster (minus dupuis)
Kunitz-Crosby-Jokinen
Bennett-Malkin-Neal
Glass-Sutter-Kobasew
Harry Z-Vitale-Adams
Letang-Scuds
Oprik-Martin
Niskanen-Maata
Despres
Probably missing someone but that is what my team would look like, I think Jokinen and Crosby is an experiment worth looking at. Jokinen's hockey IQ would be great for a guy like Sid. Ideally you make a move for a guy like Jagr or Cammy at the deadline, bump Jokinen down to the 3rd, Glass to the 4th and Harry Z to the pressbox. |

Tough game tonight. Good on the boys for sticking around and getting 2 points. They were outplayed for a large part of the game. Orpik looked pretty good though. Fleury battled hard. Nice to see Neal and Jokinen pick everyone up.
Quote from Shero about Dupuis injury makes me wonder what he has planned...
@JoshYohe_Trib: Ray Shero on timing of Dupuis injury: "If this injury happens after the trade deadline, it’s much more of a problem.” |
|
|
|
and also... what will be expected of dupuis when he comes back next season?
34 years old, torn ACL and a guy who relies on his speed and skating to perform well...
not a good combo IMO. having said that, duper is easily one of the fittest and hardest working guys out there, doubt this is the end of him. |

With every passing year I'm amazed at how much medicine has changed and fixes players better and better, 15 years ago it might have been the end of dupuis but I think healing from injuries in sports is changing. |

Id put Bennett on the 1st and jokinen on the second. Bennett needs more time on that top line.
But with dupuis going down and the cap going up next year, this really gives shero a lot to work with. I'd love to see him grab a long term top 6 winger.

Eberle (or Hall), E.Kane and Duchene (or MacKinnon) are probably the only Young forwards i'd deal straight up for Letang. Sorry I just like #58's game.

Eberle isn't going anywhere neither are duchene or mackinnon. Kane on the other hand could actually be had and I would love him on this team. |

Don't be so quick on Eberle not going anywhere. There are rumblings in Edmonton that in order to fill the gaping holes in Edmonton that Eberle could potentially be a trade target. I don't know where the Oilers would stand on someone like Letang, but I feel that the last thing they need is another puck moving defenseman. They someone who is punish players in their own end while being able to chip in a little offensively. Someone like Brent Seabrook, Zach Bogosian, |

yea I agree about no one there being off the trade market.
to me, they need a mike Richards/jeff carter type deal. trade one star for 3 or 4 assets.
team just doesn't play well together, amazing to see how many top picks they've had but how little success they managed together as a core. |

Here are some winger suggestions in the same ballpark as Dupuis salary:
Sean Bergenheim- great skater with a nose for the net.
Lee Stepniak- Gritty.
Clark MacArthur- Seems to have skating and a decent scoring touch
Dustin Penner- Great offensive strong man. |

Cap is going up next year, dupuis is out, plus all of the other cap saved on LTIR; It's going to be Christmas again for shero at the deadline |

I wish bennet or megna were healthy bc they can easily step in for dupuis... I would love to see e. kane or eberle with sid but I want to give these kids a chance if they are healthy.
I still think a true 3rd line gritty player who can put in some goals is needed... but then again can sill or gibbons fill that role?
too many unknowns and injuries to find out... as long as we have kuni with sid and neal with geno we should be good to go until playoffs..
I do find it funny that the guys who shero signed orr resigned in offseason have been injured and missed games... Shero sucks at free agency, needs to stick to trades lol
is jagr avail? |

Watching this canada game, and Pouliot is terrific on the PP, however he tends to be a little out of position in his own end. He can be out future quarterback on the PP, but that may be about it |

He reeks of a future Kris Letang.
Like him playing with Ekblad..provides some balance.
He is a guy I would not like to see the oilers get. |
