Bennett must prove he can stay healthy before he gets a shot at the top line.

I Vince McMahon GUERIN-tee he'll be on the top line when he returns...you'll see.

Fine by me. Letang for Eberle straight up. Eberle is about Sid's size, has great speed and obviously can score a lot of goals...also is under contract until 2018 at a very reasonable cap hit ay $6 mil per.

Would love this, but the problem i see going forward would be, does Sid want to play with anybody other than Kunitz and Dupuis?? Shero went out and got Iginla last season at the trade deadline to, what we all thought, play with Sid.

If this ACL causes Duper to lose his speed....he is 35 after all, there may be no other option than to replace him on the top line, and put Dupuis on the 3rd line when he returns

It would be hard to commit 30 Mil in salary based on a what if scenario. Don't get me wrong, i think Eberle could be a 40 goal scorer on Sid's wing. I'm just trying to look at this at all angles.

If Shero has an opportunity to acquire a player like Eberle, you do it. Same for the Oilers; they keep looking for a young pmd. If Letang is available, you jump all over that. As far as Sid goes, he'll get over it real fast after his new line becomes unstoppable....

Sid had a great season with Colby Armstrong as his RW...anyone not named Ryan Wilson will do.

Shero has to be in win now mode until #87 & #71 retire. Cant keep waiting for Bennett to get healthy, or hope that Dupuis is the same player when he returns, nor do i want to see players like Vitalie, Glass or HarryZ. playing on his line. To have your top 2 lines consist of Kunitz/Sid/Eberle and Megna/Malkin/Neal would be sick.

Believe me, the idea of Eberle on Sid's wing is really exciting. But Crosby has shown he doesn't need a big time goal scorer to still produce. I would rather Shero find a Kunitz type player to put on Malkin's wing. It's no coincidence that Malkin's best years were when he had Malone/Kunitz on his wing. With the current make-up of the team, putting Jussi on Sid's wing, leaving Bennett on Sutter's wing, and maybe adding a gritty 3rd liner would give this team 3 lines that would be really tough to play against.

10 to 1 , Shero comes up with some trade that none of us have thought of yet.

Yeah

With the exception of the Staal trade, which everybody saw coming, he is pretty good at keeping a lid on the inner workings of the Penguins front office.

How are they not fair to Staal? Dude is making 6 Million a year to produce like a 3rd line center. Statistically (since we all know how much you love pretty pie charts and graphs) has produced no more than Brandon Sutter AND Jordan plays on the top PP unit in Carolina (something you failed to mention). I agree that we need to see how Dumolin and Pouliet play out before deciding who made out in this deal, but at this point it looks like another dash in the win column for Shero.
- Killian

(not directed specifically at you, but an observation in general)...

There is no need to wait to see how Dumoulin and Pouliot pan out. Even if they only ever prove to be depth d-men in the 5-7 slots on the chart, the trade landed Sutter and allowed Shero to draft Maata with their own pick later in the 1st round. Sutter is a very good player who has been stuck with pylons for wingers. Given the derth of depth upfront, they can't move him up to one of the top 2 lines where his skill would be on greater display. They need someone who is actually NHL worthy to anchor the 3rd line.

We aren't setting the bars high for our players. We are realistic. Maatta might be better than lidstrom

I don't see why moving Niskanen for a UFA forward would be too bad of a deal. He's performed well this season and once we get defensemen back then we should be up to speed.

It just seems to me that even with the cap going up that Niskanen is going to price himself out of town. Rightfully so.

He's certainly not a bad player. We like him. Has a knack for scoring big goals.

The only thing I am sure of is if Shero makes a bigger move with one of the prospects he will be acquiring a guy he has contractual control over. It won't be a rental.

It will be a Kunitz/Neal situation, not and Iginla/Morrow situation.

- Ryan_Wilson

I tend to agree... but what if it was a situation similar to the jagr/iginla deal last year... some sort of deal dependent on something... eithr the pens getting to the conference finals or signing the player. for example. Despres + 1st for moulson and a third. if he doesnt resign then the 1st is dropped? I aint no gm but something could be worked out

E Kane for Letang too far fetched?
- ryman1566

Why would Winnipeg want Letang? They have two pretty significant PMDs already. He is somewhat redundant.

Moulson: no thanks-he cant skate & would never be able to keep up with Kunitz & Sid.

Ott: would love to have on our team but Shero will have to greatly overpay for his services.

Moulson would be a great addition to Pittsburgh. Every sane person knows this.

We have anything that Chicago would want? I'd love to get Saad
- dbell646

We had our chance but Shero drafted another PMD instead.
