In his first offseason, he was told to improve his skating. He busted ass at Gary Roberts' campt, and now his skating is much better.

His face off percentage is 15% higher in '13-'14 than it was last season. That's what they wanted him to work on last summer.

Dedication to professional development. The defense will come.

I have been one to stick up for Hodgson in the past, but this year he's shown me nothing that says he is getting better. I hope he does because I really liked him and I loved the trade when it first happened

He's not great. But neither is Hodgson. Both are playing like 3rd liners

cool. i hate coming off like a jerk online. i just want them to get better, and it seems to me that the league is really trending bigger. my mom is from peterborough and one of my uncles has petes seasons. ill ask him what he thinks of ritchie
- rover16

The league seems to be trending that way because they are slowly but surely reverting back to pre lockout hockey with all the various obstruction penalties that are no longer being called. Combine that with nearly every single team playing some kind of defensive system and you have skating being not as important and being bigger meaning more, which makes me sick personally.

I would always rather see high speed skill then plow horses on ice.

He was leading the team before Moulson . so that has to mean something . He isn't way above everyone else on the team . Not standing out . But the team is getting better and he will too.

LaFontaine had to have a sit down with him because of his entitled attitude.

11-12 SABRES 20 3 5 8 -7 2 2 0 1 51 5.9

Coupled with the improvements in the non-statistical aspects of his game, and the fact that the team as a whole is steadily deteriorating, I think you're missing something pretty plain if you can't see it.

The fact that he's scoring less ? This year he is at a .57 PPG, last year was at a .70. His defense has not improved a bit. All after signing a nice 6 year deal.
He's a 2nd line center that has been bumped off the "1st line" because if not buying in yet

The team as a whole is improving every game .Scary that it could ruin the chances of the 1st pick.

their goaltending has been stellar. the defense has been better under nolan but the offense has been dreadful. we dont have enough talent to assemble a solid power play. they have to trade ott, moulson, and probably miller before the deadline and they probably wont get a roster player in return. we could play .500 hockey for the rest of the year and finish with 65 points. unless the isles move tavares and the oil move hall, i just cant see us catching them.

4-4-2 in the last 10 games

I can see them playing .600 hockey for the rest of the season if players buy into ted's system

I have no (frank)ing clue what to expect from them moving forward for the rest of the season

Vanek and Pomer helped him with the scoring last year. They havn't been replaced. He is not a do it by my self type player. Reason we need that top pick this year and next. There isn't too many in the league that can change this team at the moment . Would need 2 and that would end up costing 8m each. imo.

.13 ppg is important to you on this team? C'mon fella.

They didn't sign him to the six year deal for this year. You're just looking silly.

You've hinted at some demotion for lack of buy in twice now, but nobody else has commented on it anywhere, and it's way more likely that it relates to the overall fluidity of Nolan's lines: forgive me if I tell you I don't buy you as having inside information.

yeah, but you cant fight city hall. teams like st louis that are skilled, big, and fast is something that i want. its not as much fun to watch as the 84 oilers, but thats what is going to win now.

Per Garfs update:

WGR's Paul Hamilton tweeted that Jhonas Enroth would be the starter for the Sabres tonight. Confirmation will come when/if Enroth leads his team onto the ice for pregame warmups.

Enroth is 1-6-3 with a 2.60 GAA and ,908 save % this season.

He played well, making 24 saves on 26 shots that he faced, in his last start against Calgary on December 14th. Matt Stajan scored the OT GWG for Calgary in the first minute of OT.
**
Hamilton reports Linus Omark will skate on a line with Matt Ellis and Kevin Porter in his Sabres debut.

Brian Flynn will skate at center for the injured Cody Hodgson.
