Tough call. There is not one bit of star power on this roster. Nothing on it says wow. So just draw straws I guess.

This. Mocking imaginary friends is ok everywhere else in life. Religion should not be spared this treatment.

I think you'll see a vastly different lineup next year, just gotta play this one out and get the #1 pick.

No, certain religions can be trashed mostly Christian religions. If he said what he said about Muslims or Jews he would been ripped a new one and declared a biggot and hateful by more people than me.

Darcy had 16 years to build a cup winner and although you could say he had limited success over his time as GM, he also was an abject failure, particularly in the later years and most fans were calling for his dismissal, which I agree with. You might be the only that still wants him here. They needed to make the change. And it should have taken place when Pegula bought the team. It's old news now.

Whoever they select for GM has a monumental task in re-building the franchise and his first order is to move Miller. I agree with you that we will be sellers but I would like to keep Moulson. We are weak on the wings and with the cap space, hopefully he'll be convinced to stay.

- mhp

While I don't really disagree with any of that...
I'm looking forward
The place we are in right now, is that of sellers, which you agree...
So tell me,
Do u agree that Darcy got GREAT returns for Vanek, Pominville, and even Gaustad?

My point is,
We still have some assets to trade away...
And regardless of the teams lack of success over the past 16 years, Darcy has shown to be very good at selling off assets lately

I just hope the new GM can do the same

With Vanek and maybe Miller off the books, it wouldn't be a problem though.
- sippyd

Agreed. I certainly hope we keep Moulson. Along with the Isles 1st would look like a great trade for us.

That and we won't truly know the results of some of his trades for years. For all we know one of the 2nd rounders in 2015 will end up being a franchise player.

Darcy sucked at completing a team, and he tried to bandage one together. He also didn't know when to move on from some guys. However I'm not like some that think every single move he made was awful because or wasn't

Darcy made some decent trades but also passed on others he should have pulled the trigger on. The Gaustad trade was good but not so sure that Pominville trade looks good at this point. Larsson and Hackett are marginal NHL players and wasn't the other a 2nd that we get in this upcoming draft? We should have tried to pry away Coyle or Granlund for Pommer. The Vanek trade will look good if we can keep Moulson but yet to be played out.

Need to keep Moulson. Why trade him off and then have to pay dearly to get a replacement player of his caliber ? We have him already.

I think it's way too early to tell on the Pominville trade. If Zadarov turns out to be a good top 4 defensemen it's a pretty even deal, plus Larsson is still really young.
I'm afraid we lost the Hodgson trade to he honest. Cody has been average at best so far and hasn't taken a step forward, Kassian is looking more and more like that power forward that can score.

How do we know what trades he could've made?
I'm fairly certain he inquired about Coyle & Granlund when Minn was asking about Vanek... My guess is they said no way, and that's when the conversation shifted to Pominville

I'm not necessarily a Darcy lover or anything
But he pulled off trades lately, and just about everyone was amazed at the returns he got
And I've really liked our drafting the last few years
A lot ppl seem to credit Devine with that... Let's hope so
Although of we pick #1 the next 2yrs my mom could be the GM & not screw up those picks, hahaha

like what sippy says, he'll want 6 per and since we'll need to get to the cap floor next year, pay him. We can also sign a few ufa's, re-sign Ennis and Foligno and we're there.

I forgot about Zads in that trade, my mistake. If Cody can be a solid 2 C for us, we win that trade.

Fair point,
But at the time of the deals it certainly looked like we got great deals

Ppl seem to want to assign all the blame to Darcy, but not give ant credit

He's been hamstrung by ownership his entire time here except with Pegula

I don't blame him at all for Briere/Drury
And ppl can say we "lucked into" the league changing after the lockout, but that's a matter of opinion... We'll prob never know if Darcy saw the rule changes coming or not?
Fact is, he stockpiled a great amount of talent
And that's the stage we are in now
Acquiring talent
I'd have kept Darcy for the rest of this season and then let him go
Right now, we're kind of in a holding pattern with no GM
And we need to be working out trades for our UFAs that aren't going to re-sign

I just hope our new GM can come in and get deals done quickly
And have the same good results
But I'm kind of skeptical
I guess we'll see

Hackett does look pretty average though,
Hopefully it's just a case of him being a goalie that takes a while to develop, but I'm not too hopeful at this point

I still wish we had gotten Bernier! Ugh

I wish we'd hire a damn GM already
Not doing it yet makes me think LaFontaine is either waiting on someone, or hasn't loved what any of these guys has said so far...
Maybe that's why his list has expanded?

I really wanted to see Hodgson take a step forward and be a leader. He's disappointed IMO this year

We seem to be in the same boat when muckler was let go. He built a pretty good base that the next GM had to work with . Hope the next GM doesn't screw it up. Worries me too.
