Where was the issue of women's rights addressed in the New Testament? It really isn't, other than "Wives, obey your husbands", which addresses more of a family dynamic than anything else. It's not taken literally because there's nothing to take literally.

There's also another element as well: Christ gave the Apostles the power to "bind and loose" in the Gospel. Essentially, he told them, "whatever you guys say, goes". Again, this is all irrelevant if you don't hold the Bible as an authority, but these beliefs aren't as inconsistent as people think.

Are they really mutually exclusive though? Is it really that inconceivable that an evolutionary universe could have been initially set in motion by a higher being?

The idea that its not one vs. other. But being opened minded that both have things to offer.

That deals with in a church (i.e. the place of worship) only. That's actually dealt with outside the Bible, at least in the Catholic Church anyway, which has never held the that the Bible alone was the authority. I have to find the commentary on that. I can't speak for Protestantism.

I honestly wouldn't know. I also am fine with what he said. It doesn't offend me. However I'm not an A&E fan nor employee so I have no stake in the matter, but if I owned a business and he cost me money based on his choice beliefs, he wouldn't work for me
