how could anyone even say they are good??
- LetsGoIsles

Agreed. Cappy has not had success at any professional level. There is zero evidence he's a good coach. Weight's only coaching experience is with the Islanders. Thompson had success in the ECHL.

I don't blame the fans. They have a right to voice their frustrations. A lot of people liked Matt Moulson and they were disappointed to see him go...Dan, that's not the reason free agents don't want to and play for the Islanders. The team is a joke because of the owner and management...

it certainly doesnt help...no free agent says, i want to sign on long island so 15 thousand fans can call me out when i miss on 1 (frank)ing shootout attempt.

If the fans stay away for the rest of the season, wang will lose money and he may sell. It worked for the LA dodgers when the fan boycotted the games. It may be the only thing to try because as long as wang is making money on ticket sales he has no desire to make changes.

He loses money whether the come or not...he does lose MORE money if they don't but I think they're shut-in until 2015. That's it...they're talking a minimalist approach to everything until this team is playing at Barclays. Even that is no guarantee.

Our coaching staff is the biggest collection of bush league never has beens(with the exception of weight but not in regards to coaching)how anyone can say they're good is beyond me? I believe Dan said they are "good people" not good coaches? Capuano seems nice, I've met him a couple times. Not overly bright but a nice guy. Still don't want him coaching a team I've been a fan of for the better part of forty years.

Laviolette is available. He's great for turning a team around for two years before the players start to tune him out. Hire him back for two years and then hire another coach to get you over the top once they tune Laviolette out. Your team has some great players and I'm sure Taveres would excel in his system.

1 -thank you for your permission.

2 -i wasnt expecting to win the SC this year, i was expecting them to make it into the 1st/2nd round of playoffs and believed the team was good enough DESPITE cappy; for me to go back on what i originally thought would be cowardly and two-faced. therefore ill stick with my original beliefs, cappy needs to go, team is still developing (although, make no mistake about it, cappy hurts them) and hopefully next year with 1 or 2 dmen prospects plus a signing they should take 2 giant leaps foward.

- LetsGoIsles

Two faced? Not what usually comes to mind when I think of a description of you though what I'm thinking of isn't any more flattering.

The fact remains, this team came out of last season being raved about by the Pens players and many broadcasters. We were 'on our way back'. So is it possible that losing Streit, Vis and Boyes are the catalyst for this team to go from exciting young team to hapless again? I doubt it. I think it plays a big part of it, but our problems are between the ears.

This thing is broke, but it's conceivably an easy fix.
Add one top pairing dman (and get Vis back), a goalie and a coach and I'm willing to bet this team can start making noise again.
The easiest first step to take is the coach. There's a pretty good one out there who's available and he accepts nothing but pure effort...

I think we need two legit top fours and a top pairing with Vis back but other than that I agree. Nobody on our team is a legit top 4 IMO, including Hamonic till he proves otherwise. Maybe a new coach will change that? I'd like to think so. The one thing that will fix everything IMO is a competent GM. After all without Snow's decision/indecision we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place.

this is why lavy would be perfect because this is a young team that has the energy and capability to give pure effort and they are in NO position to talk back being that they are all young and expected to pay their dues. isles need a coach they respect but more importantly FEAR.

as for last blogs convo...voicing my opinion about cappy being canned may not influence a decision but i do know i am partially responsible for moulson not being here..

I think de Haan MIGHT be a top four guy. I've been very impressed with his play and feel pretty good about him and Strait right now (though it's only 1 game). I think if those two can continue to get time together, they'd be a sufficient second pairing (not great but acceptable on a team finding their way). I think Hamonic needs to be played with a Vet so I wouldn't be opposed to doing something like this...
UFA Strait
Vis Hamonic
Hickey de Haan
Reinhart
Understand, I'm not calling Strait a true top pairing guy, but if he's paired with a legit #1 dman, I think this lineup would stand up pretty well.

At this point I'd settle for a coach that puts up a "Turnovers = Wind sprints!"sign in the locker room.

I don't disagree. DeHaan has been one of the few bright spots but this team can't go on too many "maybes" anymore. If he pans out than the teams all the better for it but we need legit NHL D men.

I don't think Cappy is a terrible coach. I think he is a terrible HEAD coach. I think right now we have 3 bench coaches. And on most teams coaching staffs they would be an asset but none of them are true head coaches. Look at Scott Gordon, another great assistant coach, terrible head coach.

What upsets me the most with Cappy is his inability to mange problems in game. He rarely if ever uses his timeout correctly. He never knows what to say or how to bring the team in and calm the situation. That's why the team runs around like loose chickens when they feel things slipping away.. they have no direction from the coach.

For a long time now they have needed a coach who commands the players respect and who the players are going to believe in. I think they had that with Nolan and blew it. And I think that is one big thing Laviolette learned from his surprise firing.. The coach has to KNOW he has the room. I'd love to see Lavy come back to the Island.. bring that fire back to the coaching staff..

Does being an Islanders fan qualify you for government subsidies towards health insurance? Thank god pre-existing conditions are covered now...I need some major psychiatric help given the mental abuse this team gives its fans on a daily basis..

When I was younger and played soccer if we were to kick the ball over the net or completely miss the goal we would have to run a mile and do 100 pushups. No reason why a group of grown adults who get paid to play shouldn't get penalized for these horrid errors game in and game out. EVery game its like the players take turns on who is going to lose the game.

Good afternoon to you all,

After watching the game last night, I was very happy with what I saw until two minutes left in the third period. Hell broke loose and that's what I expected to see. Is that sad or what? I can see how Clutterback played differently when he is being put on line with Strome. Unfortunately, Bailey didn't fare well as he did last year but I know that he can be really good. Maybe it is just because he is in islanders uniform I don't know. I love Vanek and He does make some good plays. The problem with Islanders is that we know how to get there but just can't complete the task. That's the problem with Islanders.

Not true unless you tell us. I'm going to go with it not being true even if you do tell us but you're the one who bought it up what are you afraid of? Come on, tell the masses how you influenced Moulson getting traded?
