Funny though how everyone had good chemistry with JT..maybe, just maybe it's all about JT.
As for Vanek, that line is 2nd highest producing line in the NHL right now. That said, maybe it would make sense in order to create secondary scoring that we break them up and see what happens. - keaner17
Maybe it IS all about JT... but why fix something thats not broken???
We keep downgrading....
PAP to Boyes to PMB
MM to Vanek
Why change what is working?
Why keep tinkering the first line and not worry about any of the rest of the teams problems???

It's funny how the masses have grown. This time last year there were about 3 of us complaining about Amac. Safe to say those numbers have grown. He's entering Bruno Gervais territory for me.
I miss the good ol' Die Bruno Die chants I used to start on the yahoo boards - keaner17

How dare you.... he is referring to Moulson!
Moulson who yes had his faults but WORKED on the top line, was a commodity that was traded WITH other commodities for the same exact player as Moulson (just Prettier)
Moulson and Moulson's position were NOT the problem, But we traded away a liked player in the locker room, in the seats & on the scoreboard, PLUS 2 highly valued draft picks.. for a guy why does the exact same things as MM.. no better.. no worse.. but now has to see if he plays well with our franchise player (so far not so good) where MM played with him quite well (ohh and MM OFTEN drew penalties, while not taking many at all, something Vanek does the opposite) People want MM back not because they like him better or forget his faults but because the trade should never have been made in the first place... and if he was going to be shipped out.. let it be for a TRUE weakness on the team.. the D

Once again, that line is the second highest producing line in the NHL over the last dozen games. So I'd say it's working fine. Jt has continued to produce points at a ppg despite Amac qbing the power play. Vanek is better than Moulson in ever friggin' category with the exception of shot deflections.
If you're assessing the trade based on just 2013, I agree it didn't need to be made. However, this was supposed to be a trade that determined our top line for years to come. In that case, I'm pulling the trigger every time. |

I disagree. again. I don't know how many goddamn times we've had this same pointless discussion when the weakness of this team is not the first line. I suggest you try some new material. |

clearly he thinks Vanek is a downgrade from Moulson. A guy so valuable he was playing on the third line in the playoffs.

I think Vanek is a better player.. and ultimately i dont think we will see the best of him until hes NOT with JT, MM on the other hand worked very well with JT and the way he plays. Since the point of the trade was to make the first line better... I believe they failed.. they downgraded.

They may be separated by that amount of salary this season (actually closer to $4M), but do you really think their salaries are going to be much different come July? Moulson is in line for a huge raise, likely $6M and over per year, based on the market and what guys wth comparable and even weaker numbers are signing for last summer. Vanek isn't going to get a raise (or a significant one) from his $7.1M per he gets now. The difference in their salaries will be about $1M or so and yes, I think Vanek is $1M per year better than Moulson. - Jethro09
I think Vanek will get about $3 mill more than Moulson come next year. Just an opinion but we will see. |

I do ... one that line and on the PP with JT.. Moulson was and is a better fit. I said it when they made the trade and after 19 games all the stats point to me and XX and everyone on the other side of this convo being correct. When are you going to see it and say you just might have been incorrect?
