How does Sharp NOT get on team canada? Whats the argument for Hall or Nash over Sharp? - BlazinMike
I think he makes it. He is playing really well. What might go against him is the old boy mentality for Canada. Its probably his only realistic shot too. |

I was thinking the same thing. Last year was a firestorm of action. And even for the crappy teams it was better because it was over faster haha. But yeah its never gonna happen either way, still would be cool though. - BlazinMike
Hockey is the only sport I can watch anymore when "my team" isn't involved.
Too many bad baseball and (especially) basketball teams and games - most games are over long before the 9th inning or the end of the 4th quarter.
With hockey, even #1 against #30 will more often than not get you an exciting game not decided until the last minute: about 1/4 of games go into OT, and certainly another quarter are one-goal (or two-goal with an empty netter in the last minute) efforts.
I can even get excited about shoot-outs as drama, although a terrible way to determine a winner. |

If that is their asking price. Trade them both. With that much of the cap on those 2, the Hawks won't be winning anything anyway. Get as many draft picks as you can and start all over again. - Elbows15
Why trade both..... why not trade one to Buffalo? |

I have a theory that one of the main reason for many broken Presidential campaign promises is because they really have no idea what the true state of things in the world are until after they're sworn in. This is when they receive their first CIA/NSA briefings. Everything changes after this first briefing...kind of a "holy sh!t, really?" moment for them. It's at precisely this moment that their hair begins to grey, and their "promises" begin to take a back seat to other priorities. - Ogilthorpe2
They also seem not to understand how hard it is to get what they want done - the competing pressures from the legislatures, the joint chiefs and pentagon, the NSA and Langley, even his cabinet and administrative departments - can't just say "do this" and have it done.
Johnson understood all this, and could have been a top-5 president, had VietNam not interfered. But we like to "hire" non-Washington outsiders who have no idea how national government works, going back to Eisenhower, Kennedy (a back-bencher in Congress), Carter, Clinton, Bush-II, Obama.
Nixon knew how things worked; he was a crook. Reagan had a whole movement behind him - got a lot of what he wanted done. |

Depending on how much they truly like it here, and like being the dynamic duo together, they might sacrifice some $ for term. I say matching 8 X $10 deals might do it, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. - Ogilthorpe2
And what will the effect of winning / not winning the Cup this year be? Three in five years - $2MM On top of, say, $9MM? |

Great and we will be in the same jam as before. Having to let go of the solid depth that was so important to winning the Cups. I can't see the Cap going up so much to be able to pay them that much and still have some room left over. I sure hope they take under 10. Guess forget about the 8-9 I was hoping for. I see another lockout or strike when this new deal runs out - tomcat24
Don't forget - it's a 50/50 split now of HRR between the owners and the players - when the cap goes up, the owners get just as much.
Not ALL of them, of course - just the ones in good hockey markets.
But they won't be ably to complain about the ever-increasing payroll level: they collectively get more too |

Clinton was more the master politician - the epitome of Teflon - if Monica couldn't destroy him, nothing could.
His accomplishments came when he joined the Republicans to get a balanced budget and welfare reform. He never did figure out Kosovo or Rwanda or Israel/PLO. |

Depends on how much the Dynamic Duo value the realistic possibility of winning 3 more in the following 5 years
It's certainly their right to make as much as they can, and they most likely will, but they have something special going now, what value do they put on that? Time will tell. |

It is bad enough I have to watch the Pens again. But to have to suffer through their announcers twice in one week HAS to be a violation of the Geneva Accord. |
