Its a fact not a political view.
- Flyersgod

actually, it's an opinion, rooted in your political views. to say unions did no good for anyone but their members is being an ignoramus. unions played a key role in the adoption of the 40 hour work week and the creation of child labor laws.

those things are actually good for most people, union members or not. and yes, unions have grown into monolithic entities that seem to have lost sight of the reason they came about in the first place. but that requires a nuanced view and the ability to accept other views as being valid.

so please, spare us the nonsense, stick to hockey and don't confuse your opinions with facts.

Because you believe it does not make it fact.

Discussing the union here is on topic, generalizing about it being reflective of all unions ever is not. Do you grasp the distinction?

In this case, the union has members both benefiting and being hurt by the same things. In the long term, what is more important to the majority of the members of the unions? Healthy long careers that result in higher incomes, both annually and over the life of the player's career. Working in the interest of the malefactors rather than the victims is not "typical union practice."

I wonder if it's just posturing for something else. Maybe something else down the line.

What I said was fact today, not all time. Had no politics to it. Lots of things were created with good intentions and wound up "bad".

You read it with your bias involved, not mine.

So I can't generalize? 10-4. Crystal clear. Will make sure to remind everyone else when it comes up again.

You people laugh at jokes that involve violence towards women but cry over a unions comment?

Sounds like bias to me.

my lone bias is your inability to avoid sharing your political opinion. i don't care if a poster is a communist or a tea party member, i don't want to read political nonsense. it's been made clear numerous times by several moderators that it's not acceptable.

and yes, sharing an opinion on unions and their impact on society is definitely a political opinion.

The "treating your opinion as fact and everyone else's as wrong" problem here has been addressed a few times. And thankfully it has resulted in some lengthy bans.

Don't like it? Find somewhere else to post. I hate digging through this crap day in and day out to read hockey news/opinions.

Solid game last night from all the lines. Adam Hall is a stand-up player who does exactly what you want of him. Why it took so long to get him signed, and why they locked up Rosehill first, is a (frank)ing mystery.

Watching the video, anybody saying some of the blame is on Schenn is out of their mind. His body was leaning that way, just slightly, from stick-handling, and then he feels Wilson coming in to hit him, and he still barely turns his body.

Also, I forgot Schenn and Wilson fought back in September.

From the look of the hit, it looks as if it would have been a lot worse had Schenn not turned.

is it possible for you to make a single post without sharing your political views? i'm going to guess you enjoy weekends, holidays off and the good things unions have given to the majority of americans.

like anything else, conservatism or liberalism taken too far is not a good thing. compromise is vital. too much of anything is usually a bad thing, and beating everyone else over the head with your views is tiresome.

- ZaphodB

You're trying to make reasonable points, draw distinctions and ask that things not be viewed in absolutes. It's not going to work.

Who does? I don't know that I've seen it, and I know the women on this board would not appreciate it. Or is that just another generalization?

And I think the point is we're all well aware of your leanings as you definitely make it clear.

That was a nice play, knocking the puck out of the air, dusting the d, slipping the puck under Fleury. Should be a fun 3rd.
