I think we can all agree on that. But there's more than wins and losses during the regular season of the NHL, and that's where points come in to play.

accepting the loser point is like saying it's ok to lose

It's simple.

You score or you don't.

Giving people points for assists is stupid.

Schenn very well could be out for the year on that hit. That was one of the worst hits I've seen this year. Schenn didn't help matters by trying to turn his back to it, but it reminded me of the Downie hit that got him 20 something games. Tons of speed, left his feet, and came from a good amount of distance. Tough play.

Satisfying win tonight! In particular, I thought the puck support was fantastic in all zones. It seemed like the guy with the puck always had a nearby teammate to pass it to or to help battle along the boards. The backcheck was strong, not allowing much time or space for the Caps to operate, and a The D did a good job of efficiently moving the puck up to the forwards who, with numbers (and support) in the neutral zone, were able to execute in transition into the offensive zone...they were hard on the forecheck and showed good battle to win pucks and cycle for added possession and chances. All of this was very refreshing versus what we had been used to seeing and it showed what the current personnel is capable of if they play with the discipline and determination they showed tonight.

I thought Streit probably had his best game as a Flyer....I've tried to be patient with the guy, and for at least tonight he was confident with the puck and looked like the player I was expecting to see when we signed him. He was solid defensively in defending the likes of OV and winning some physical battles in the D zone, made some nice carries and passes in the transition game and looked very good at the top of the PP umbrella, distributing the puck and firing off rocket shots. THAT is how Mark Streit can play and how he needs to play more often than not if he's going to earn that contract. He and Grossmann, who, for the most part, had a very strong game, worked well together. Timonen looked very good on D, making a couple really nice plays, especially when he bodied up on OV coming over the blueline....textbook. Luke Schenn played well, physical as usual but also made some good passes and got some shots in from the point...Gusty played a solid game...he moved the puck very well and impressed me with his defensive play (the pinch leading to poor coverage and a goal against notwithstanding)...I thought that pairing worked well.

Offensively, Couts Read and Downs did another fine job in containing the Caps best and put up some points too. Jake's confidence is growing and he's producing like we've seen him before...can't believe some people were quitting on him while he was slumping...Raffl continues to be a catalyst with his strong skating and hard work on the forecheck. I was glad to see Simmer finally pot one after the hard work he put in...BSchenn had a strong game...hope he's allright.

Despite the misplay on the OV goal, Mase seemed back to his solid game between the pipes, coming up big when needed.

A great TEAM effort tonight by the Flyers...they really supported each other out there, in many different ways...and this time, they didn't rest on the lead they worked so hard to get...let's hope that's a lesson they won't have to re-learn with frequency going forward.
