1st and marincin.

for me, i would be on super selling mode on that 1st with absolutely no intentions of keeping it. last few years, gms may ask for the 1st in return from edm and mact or tamby prob say no, how about something else instead. this year's convo, if teams ask for the 1st, i push to sell it and ask for more rather offering less.

Crystal ball not required. Bishop was 8-5, 9.22 with a 2.55 GA on a so-so Sens Team. Some NHL commentators thought he had "starter" potential. In fact, on HNIC one of the panel (forget who---Weekes maybe) who thought the Oil should go out and make a deal with Ottawa to get Bishop or Lehner, though it was thought that Lehner would be retained. The mighty Oil couldn't offer more than Jones and a 4th?
- haymac

I was one as well that was asking for the Oil to get Bishop but lots other Fans here were still dreaming about Dubnyk becoming a Number One Goalie

at this present moment, who would you acquire? prv and a 2nd for bishop or perron?
- deks1

I'm greedy. I want them both. They're both exactly what this team needs. We need a lot of help.

Actually, MacT offered Jones and a 2nd, but the Sens wanted Jones and 2 2nds or PRV and a 2nd. That was as per Bob Stauffer a couple months back.
- MaximumBone

Thanks. Yeah, it was a 4th that T.B. sent with Connacher. The Sens reportedly didn't want to take a large contract back, so, although they wanted some offense, Hemsky wouldn't fit due to his contract.
I'd have sent PRV and the pick at the time. PRV had the size and speed but didn't play tough and was to me frustrating to watch. Love Perron, but was he known to be available then? Doubt it as St. Louis was getting ready for a Cup run. Love Perron and I give MacT full credit for an excellent trade. But we had a chance at a goalie with solid potential and I can't believe that Oil management couldn't have added another piece (if they didn't want to give PRV), say a prospect, to get a deal done.

At the time, did Dubnyk not look to have "starter potential"? In my eyes, he totally did. He was rocking a .920+ Sv% around that time on a less than average team. Anyone who suggests they knew, beyond a doubt that Dubnyk couldn't be a starter at last season's trade deadline is fooling no one but themselves. No one could have foretold Dubnyk's epic collapse.

Sure it was a move that made a deal of sense, but it wasn't an absolute necessity like it is now. As the cliche goes: "Hindsight is 20-20".

Well, as I said then, I wasn't sold on him as a consistent #1. That year and the year before he had about the same stats, but always seemed to let in a soft goal late in games. He was getting older and had lots of chances to prove he was a starter. He'd been sent up & down to the A many times. Great guy, but championship teams are built from the net out. As I said, other commentators thought the Oil should get help in net and I agreed as a Fan. So, no crystal ball and 20-20 not a factor. I simply had an opinion then that unfortunately came true---Dubs is not starter material.

He got out "clouts'ed" by Matt Henderson. In all seriousness, an Oilers blogger living in San Jose was about as ridiculous as a Casucks blogger (Sucksplen) living in Calgary.

Is this post for real? Casucks? Are you 5? Oilers have been the definition of loser for close to a decade. Epitome of failure... 1st overall picks year after year and very little progress.
- kneughter

Isn't the epitome of failure 43 or is it 44 years and counting now???? It's great to be a perennial regular season team every year, but correct me if I am wrong, isn't the ultimate goal to win the cup??? Not set a new record for riots???

You realize the guy was from Alberta though right? It's not like he was born in San Francisco. Guys been following the oilers for 30 years.

You're seriously going to argue with a Canucks fan? It's convenient for them that their teams entire tenure in the NHL, their greatest 5 year stretch has coincided with Edmontons worst. Wanna dial it back to 10 years? Roughly the same amount playoff series victories. They have been a top team for the a while and still somewhat are, let them enjoy it, nothing lasts forever.

Fair enough.
Nothing personal against the guy, just think a guy who lives in the city of the team he is blogging about, is a better fit. That is assuming the guy ever leaves his house, clout's never did, and he held a job here for a long time.

It's not an argument, just firing a salvo back at that douchetard who patrols the Oilers threads to see if his team is mentioned so he can get some attention. Oh and don't forget they just happen to be lucky their team is doing well during the birth and height of social media. Casucks fans would have slit their wrists enduring social media chat the entire decade of the 80's and early 90's

I'm on the side with doesn't seem to matter where they live. It seems to be a lot of bloggers don't live close to where they report. Ex.
Adam French
Team -Phoenix
Lives- Russia
. I get your point though someone that can get to see some of the more interesting stuff in teams when they are around the area or the city.

Frenchie is the exception to the rule, the guy is talented, knows his poop, and actually does his research. But I am assuming that living in the city gives one more access to actual sources, but we all know clout's source "deepchoke" was a load of horsepoope so maybe you are right.

Clouts was entirely different thing in its self.
