just based on the ages of the players alone, i wouldn't want this trade to happen … 2 players on the wrong side of 30 for a 28 & 26 yr old centers and a 23 yr old Defenseman … no thanks - JackBurton37
Stajan is 29 and GlenX is 30. But that would be a bad trade for both sides. Glencross and Backlund for MDZ and a 2nd rd pick |

With Marc Staal injured why would the Rangers move a dman? |

Well I highly doubt the rangers are gonna sell off veterans for youth - Bieksa#3
no, but I doubt they're going to sell off youth for veterans either … if there is a hockey deal to be made, then OK, but it needs to make sense.

Rumor has it John Moore is being groomed to take over the skilled Dman role from MDZ, and they want to take advantage of MDZ's value while he's still in RFA years. |

MDZ has been the favored whipping boy and so the primary target of most Ranger trade rumors … |

True, but Dylan McIlrath the RANGERS 2010 1st rd pick is finally getting a crack now, they are gonna plug him in now in Staal's absence. |

If the rumor has any legs which I doubt, it would not shock me if Girardi goes. The more logical choice is MDZ, |

Girardi has not been the same since Torts left, Boyle too, although he has always been Mr Inconsistent. |

It'd have to be an offer you couldn't say no to to move Girardi. I don't know why Slats hasn't given him a wheelbarrow full of money to resign yet. Especially if you believe the conspiracy theorists who say that Staal is going to bolt to Carolina after next year too. |

Thought AV was a bad choice for this team from the beginning. Not because he's a bad coach but because the team is built in Torts' image. Just not a good match between coach and personnel. |

I actually see Girardi walking if he gets to July 1. If the Rangers freefall he will def be shopped for picks come the dealine. problem is Metro division sucks bawls, they're gonna be in a playoff spot battle almost no matter what. |

I hated the Torts firing, thought he was rough & a douche to listen to but he got the best results anyone could with that squad. For Sather with all his faults over the last 14 yrs to listen to the players as the rumors had it & be allowed to fire & hire yet another Coach is such a joke. Him & Dolan are butt budies. |

MDZ to Colorado...or Carolina....or Nyi.....or Ottawa.... - Iggysbff
Dont see that happening unless the Rangers are willing to take more of a project Dman such as Barrie or Elliot packaged with McGinn or Wilson.
The only one I can see perhaps happening is if they dont think they can resign Girardi and want to get some value for him now.
Dont think the Avs have the assets to move to get either Dman right now |

Would a package of a dman in Wilson (signed next season as well) and a forward like McGinn be enough to pry him loose? |

Feel like McGinn isn't enough of an improvement over 2nd to 3rd line guys like Pouliot/Pyatt who aren't doing much as it is. And Wilson is serviceable, but doesnt jump out at all. I wouldn't do that if I were the Rags. |

I can agree with that, but thats the sort of package I think the Avs would be comfortable putting together to try and upgrade the D Corps, only other guy that could be moved is Parenteau, but another 2nd line winger would have to be coming back as well. Other than that just ruins too much chemistry on the team |
