Good assessment

However I still believe the team makeup is flawed. If it wasn't we would be winning games. I'm happy to hear the cap is going up, might give us a fighting chance at signing some UFA's.

- ystoil

Agreed.

I do think the team can win with Hall, Eberle, Nuge, Perron (and even tweeners like Yakupov, Arcobello and Gagner). We just need the three or four oft-mentioned role players to complement the group.

Hall-Gagner-Yakupov
Matthias-Nuge-Eberle
Perron-Arcobello/Gordon-Kulemin
Joensuu-Gordon/Arcobello-Pitlick

We'd be better with a few more bruisers, but I think that's an improvement.

We've gone through a lot of bad goalies, so at least once I'd like to see them switch goalie coaches. Not trying to lift blame off Dubnyk or anything; I'm just saying that if Chabot hasn't been able to teach Dubnyk how to play bigger, maybe he's not right for the job.

I thought we had someone recently that had their own coach?

The other issue that arrives is if Chabot is fired and Dubnyk still likes him there isn't much the team can do to stop Dubnyk from having Chabot on the side.

I think he'd respect the team's decision. Regardless, I don't see him sticking around long anyways unless he manages some miracle run in the second half, his time with the Oilers is done.

Halak or Elliot are good options for us, both are ufa,s next year, plus the blues have Jake Allen waiting.

Again, I'd steer clear of Elliot, but wouldn't be opposed to either Halak or Hiller (depending on their asking price). Alternatively, you make a play on a young goalie that has yet to establish himself fully. A Martin Jones or Frederik Andersen (with Gibson and Bobkov coming up, I'd warrant he could be had) perhaps?

Well at least if we're convinced Dubnyk can't even be average, we should be able to move on from him. Better than pulling a WPG or whoever and getting stuck to a weak goalie on a long contract, or even a mediocre one on an expensive one.

I still believe there's a quality goalie there, at least 30 game back-up type quality, because I've seen 100 some games of decent Dubnyk. 30 games of bad Dubnyk shouldn't end his career, but you never know how he'll rebound, if he ever does.

Goalies are (frank)ed. He could go to Boston as a backup next year get some confidence and then be a starter. The key is it's not going to happen here.

U get dubnyk at a decent rate, u do it. Id have no problem with him as our backup. He's had some rough nights and cost us some points. But hes also had some very good games, along with a number of solid ones. The vehement dubnyk haters wanna put our struggles on 1 guy. But this isnt the case.

We might not be a true bottom feeder with better goaltending, but we're still probably bottom 3rd. And certainly not a playoff team.

assuming bachman can fill that role is a huge gamble at this point.

regardless of whether we offer dubs a backup role or not, id assume he moves on

I think it best if he moves on at some point. I wouldn't be too surprised if Mac at tried to move him this spring, what would surprise me is some dumb son if a bich actually took the bait. He sucks.

Oiler fans negative attitude towards other teams is bringing bad karma to your team, this sedin sister thing is so old, that's all you got? I guess that's the level of imagination when all you got to think about is shoveling snow.

Hey just sayin, when the oilers did the last cup run, being in a Vancouver pub watching the games, you would think the oilers were a Vancouver team, we cheered our heads off, I just don't get this total hate with no regards to how good the sedins are, yeah I know playoffs not so good, but you could say that about a lot of guys, look at malkin, the hawks almost blew it to the wings who squeaked in, it's just weird to read. It's not just message boards, it's this hate on for Vancouver in general, just trying to understand why they can't get their act together, Dubnyk played like a champ in the Spangler cup, three first rounders and Perron leads the team, it must be a higher force. It's all in good fun,

Just thought of something funny...with Burke in charge of the Flames, and his history of surrounding himself with people he knows, how funny would it be if he hired Tambo to be his puppet?

I know, I know, Tambo will likely never work in the NHL ever again, but it's still a humorous thought...

It's not really that hard to see. Dubnyk is an average to below average Goalie, the kids are still just kids, the solid veteran leadership needed to be successful is almost non existent , 4 coaches in 5 years defence is not good at all....it's not voodoo or karma.
I never cheered the Canucks or Flames on their cup runs and never will cheer for Toronto (not that their in Danger of making it to the finals anyway).

I think what's old is the the persona of 90% of the nuck fan base who are hypocritical and are like "I'm gonna rip on every team in the league on their boards" and then you all act like you are the victims when everyone rips on your team. You guys are highly regarded as the most arrogant fan base while your best stretch of hockey in your 43 year history has come over the last 5 years (0 Cups BTW). Now I know every team is guilty of these types of fans but Vancity has an abundance of them. Lets not talk about bad persona my friend because you guys are the definition of it.

I guess you can't really work in the NhL for as long as he has without making a friend or 2 along the way that might throw you a bone. Pro Scout isn't exactly a high profile job in the grande scheme of things...I mean, most people on here , myself included, couldn't name our pro scout without looking it up.

Hey I never ripped the Oilers, I just said if you were there in a pub in Vancouver when you guys went to the final, we all cheered for your team, I'm trying to give a different perspective to you, not all Canuck fans are what you are saying, that's like saying all Muslims are terrorist, but hey you just proved my point, where do you get your info, message boards, when one brings out old stats, cause that's the only thing they have left, just goes to show, but that being said, there is a lot of nuck fans who should keep their mouths closed until something big happens,
