Hey all. Rough weekend.
Sabres on the other hand really seem to be playing so much better under Ted.

I know most in here cannot not embrace the tank this year let alone next year . But here is the reason for a tank next season as well .

The problem with the tanking idea next year is that if he's really that good, there are going to be quite a number of teams tanking for him. Not only do you have to finish near last, you're going to have to win the lottery as well. Say what you will about rigging lottery, but Connor McDavid is going to be too difficult to acquire. There's going to be too much luck involved in landing him.

25% odds of winning 1st overall, not good.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Jim Matheson reports the play of goalie Martin Jones could make Ben Scrivens trade bait when Jonathan Quick returns from injury. He speculates Scrivens might get moved by the trade deadline. Jones can be sent back to the minors until then…He thinks the Ducks could try to re-sign Jonas Hiller if his salary demands aren’t excessive and instead shop Viktor Fasth…Matheson also speculates the Kings might move often-scratched forward Matt Frattin…He also wonders if the St. Louis Blues would “give up goalie Jake Allen, winger Ty Rattie and two draft picks for (Ryan) Miller?”

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Jones is waiver-exempt so I can see him being demoted upon Quick’s return…Despite Hiller’s UFA status at season’s end, he’s playing well so there’s no need to move him or bring in a replacement…Blues appear willing to stick with Halak for now.

We don't need another goalie and if they want Miller it better be more then that offer.

I know its tough to swollow but getting Jake Eichel & Matthew Bazzel are very good players which if we can grab Reinhart this year can take some of that blow away.

If you trade your franchise goaltender, it's almost always a good idea to get another one back as insurance, unless you have an absolute stud in the wings. The Sabres don't have that. Jake Allen would basically be a throw in. That being said, I think they can do better than Ty Rattie as a centerpiece.

Are they really worth tanking for though? If they tank, and don't end up with McDavid, they are in trouble.

They say the the 2015 draft is the deepest since 2003 as well ! A 25% chance at that once in a generation player is still pretty good .

Just saying its not like they would get some terrible player. Got a generational player but still good players.

Better than Bobby Ryan & Jack Johnson folowing Crosby

It is pretty good, but the problem is that if you don't land him, you've set yourself back even further. You essentially have a 75% chance of a 5 year project. Now, if the NY Islanders somehow inexplicably defer their pick to 2015, then you might want to change your strategy.

Btw, the 25% chance assumes they finish dead last next year. If they finish anywhere from 25th to 29th, it's even worse.

you can't keep tanking for players, that shows the league Buffalo is still a bad place to play. Enough with the tanking talk, start building already as of today and stop with all this " 3 more years crap".

If I'm tanking two years in a row, there had better be a generational player in there.

Will be interesting to see if Reinhart, Ekblad and McDavid make the Canadian junior team. They have 25 players still with three cuts to make.
