Those numbers are astounding. I knew it was bad, but wow, this team is historically awful. I was looking at the standings late last night. Most of the so-called "bad teams" in the league this year have started to pull away from us. The only saving grace for this season is that we're going to get the #1 overall pick and that's pretty cool. |

Were not getting blown out either. Seems most games we are in it . I'm ok with that for now . We don't need to go on no 20 game winning streak. ( never gonna happen) |

So if the Sabres need to get to the cap floor next year and the Rangers buyout Richards, anyone think we should try to sign him? Maybe if Ott resigns he can talk his old teammate to come hear. Say a one year deal worth $8-$10m to get to the cap floor, convince Richards if he doesn't want to resign we will trade him to a contender and would get a very good return. So basically paying $8-$10m to get at least an additional 1st and 2nd pick for next years draft. - adambuffalo
I like your thinking in how to get additional picks,
But I don't wanna go signing guys that will help us be good enough to finish picking say 8th
I'm of the opinion that we should be going "all in" for McDavid
So to get to the cap floor,
I'd keep Stafford & Leino around
Re-sign guys that will be in the minors, but can still count against the cap... like Ellis, Tardiff, etc
Larsson & Armia should be getting playing time up here as well

Hahahaha
It'll be worth it to get Reinhart
Next year will be a rough one too, but thats the McDavid draft so I'm ok with us looking like poop again
2015-2016 is when this team starts making noise again
The defense should be all grown up & playing solid
And our young forwards should have enough time to develop as scorers by then
Add in McDavid,
And this team is ready to go |

I can handle 2 years .. 2015-16 I agree. The kids will be playing for contracts as their ELC's will be up. Timing couldn't be better.
At least the team seems to have it right. |

You don't keep Leino and Stafford to get to the floor, you get rid of Leino once and for all and resign Moulson if he wants to stay. Either way you don't keep Leino. If Larsson was so good he would be playing, he's not. Nolan doesn't seem to thrilled with the idea of all these kids playing or they would be. |

Agreed . Moulson needs to stay. We can't ship out ALL the players with talent to replace them with could be's. |

Getting rid of players for picks just to replace them with scrubs so the kids can play, will not work or they would still be doing it. These young players are not ready to play and to get rid of them for more picks and replace them with bad players only makes things worse. |

We have some better than most players in Moulson, Ennis,Ott, Foligno. Ott is a question mark. Great 3rd liner . Lots of posters think if they aren't a Crosby type player they need to go. We need team players. 4th liners too the 1st liners. Our 1st liners can be better. But doesn't mean we get rid of them. Cycle them to the 2nd line . |

Well I'd much rather have Moulson than Leino, I just don't see him staying with us. Same with Ott.
I just don't see vets, or UFAs wanting to come here till we start winning again. Which unfortunately means we're prob gonna have to wait a few years for these kids to grow into more consistent players.
I know u hate that idea,
I just don't know if we have any other choice?
As far as Nolan not playing a lot of kids,
I think he's trying to win now to show he can still be a viable coach in this league.
Larsson can be a 3rd line guy who maybe grows into something more if he can develop as a scorer. Kids got a motor, and gives good effort, so it's only a matter of time before he's up here permanently. |

I'm not impressed with Foligno and from the looks of it, neither is Nolan. I could take or leave him the only thing about him is his last name IMO, another average if that player. |

Money will keep Moulson and Ott here if needed, you don't let them go for more picks that will take another 3-4 years to develop. |
