Yes but they very well could have had a better chance with Seguin. In 4-5 years they will be shaking their heads.

Not necessarily. Seguin couldn't crack the top 6 in Boston and Boston didn't need him to. If you're in a position to win now and you can acquire a piece that helps you do that, I say you make it. The future is too unpredictable to worry about t plus years down the road.

Just got back from the game, the wife and I counted not one "Turd Burger" jersey.

He was 20. Not many players crack the NHL at 20.
Also doesn't this say more about the lack of patience by Boston that they have now traded two borderline superstar players who immediately had career years when they left town? Soon Chara will be too old, and Bergeron will wear down, and all those complimentary peices will not look half as good as they do now.
Not to mention, Ericksson is in rough shape. One more hit and he will be gone for a long time

I must say I like what I see. I didn't know he was one of the candidates for the job though, sounds like he'd be a good hire.

5 points in 7 games for Byron, not too shabby.

I'm so proud of people in this town. People are usually such suckers for anything Sabres. Even parents aren't letting their kids wear them. They had them front and center in the sabres store and not one person bothered with them.

I'll put it this way. Obviously this is hypothetical and would require more foresight than humanly possible, but if I was guaranteed a Cup in the current year on the condition that I would have to trade my current young stud, I would do it no question. To take it further, let's up the stakes: this young stud would go on to win 4 Cups with someone else plus a few Hart and Art Ross/Norris Trophies as well, with the stipulation that I don't know what happens if I keep the guy. I'd still make that deal. One championship now is worth it, even if it means 10 or 15 straight years of ineptitude would follow.

HNIC - reporting Flames might go after Benning, which might pressure the Sabres to make a move?

Here's the problem though, with how Seguin has been playing versus what Ericksson has done or not done you have to think that the Bruins would be better off now and in the future if they kept him. My whole point is that they didn't get nearly enough for Seguin IMO
For whatever reason they felt that a really good 2nd liner and a few decent prospects was enough for a potential 90 point center. No matter how good they still are they got robbed

If Boston ends up wining another Cup within 3 years, the trade is still worth it.
- buffalofan19

horrible trade for Boston, Eriksson is hurt yet again and he is 1 whack away from being out the year. 2nd concussion this year in 30 games.

Reilly Smith is the x factor but if morrow does not pan out, I agree 100%

Seguin is a beast that will only get better and will make the stars in the playoffs more often then not

Don Cherry is such a moron. Such a Canadien homer. It's "unfortunate" Thornton did what he did but he's basically saying its justified. Then referring to Neal, he "kicked" Marchand in the head

Vanek, Pysyk, and a 2nd gets that deal done for us....although i'd rather die than see Vanek in a Bruins uniform

Legs first backwards into the boards. Left the ice only able to put weight on his one leg

Isles "kept pace" with us and lost in OT.

Gerbe with his 7th of the year

I slept through most of the Sabres game today. I see they really "played better" for Enroth...9 goals scored in his 11 games this year. That's amazing effort they put out for him

They play better defensively in front if him. It's incredibly obvious. He faced 15 shots against MTL on the road and then had a very light game today.
